Hi
Were Ttc and as yet it's not happened but ( 5 months but 3 actively Ttc) We are plannibg on booking a holiday and So was wondering are u ok to fly in the early stages as I'm hoping I will be 'updiffed' by may/June/ July when we want to go away. I don't want to stop my life completely because were Ttc but just wondering 1) if it's safe to fly in the early stages2) if the early stages are plagued with sickness if it will ruin it so best to wait to book. 3) what peoples thoughts/ experiences are as I'm sure people have booked holidays and then found out before they go and still go....
( if that makes sense?)

I anticipate ur replies :-) x

Hi - good luck with TTC, am sure you'll get there really soon. We were TTC and booked a holiday to New York for our anniversary regardless. The time came round and I had a BFP and was 8/9 weeks PG with terrible nausea and fatigue - this actually worked out fine with the flight as I slept most of the way there and back which I never do on planes! Go for it. Our attitude was to live life as normal - and we also suspected that with sod's law if we started booking in exciting things we'd probably fall PG! Worked for us. x

Yes flying is fine. I flew at 4 and then 10 weeks after a 6 week trip home so spent most if the first trimester on holiday and was fine. We also had our SA holiday booked and I was 7 months when it came round!

I wouldn't worry - the worst case is that you go and feel delicate the whole time so laze around a pool. Don't book anything hugely adventurous!

First i was concerned that u couldnt fly but then got thinking about morning sickness. Would it be manageable on a long flight / in an unfamiliar place etc etc but like u say it's not like u would have to work/ stress etc u can just relax.Grin
Hopefully I will have this to worry about !!.Smile

If you're like most of us you won't get pregnant to schedule anyway and you won't have to worry about it!

I went on holiday in the early stages and it was fine. It was booked before I knew I was pregnant and we were hardly going to cancel our family holiday and lose 900 pounds for no good reason. It's safe to fly and I think the majority of people imagine that they are going to have way more morning sickness than is actually the case. Yes, some people have a rotten time with it but if you did get hyperemesis and have to cancel then your insurance ought to cover that. My main concern was if a miscarriage started but I was very early on so if that had been the case, I'd have been highly unlikely to need hospital treatment.

Don't put your life on hold while you are ttc. You might get lucky quickly or you might find yourself playing a rather longer game.

I went away at 9/10 weeks and to be honest from a nausea point of view being on holiday was a godsend. Meant I didn't have to cook at all which was a big relief. I was able to eat really plain food, so chose my restaurants and ordered accordingly. I was a bit worried too but in the end really enjoyed the break.
