Would you fly at 5/6 weeks after previous mc?

Posted in pregnancy but would like to hear thoughts here too:

Slight dilemma. I have just found out I'm pregnant (yay), literally only 4 weeks today. I had an early mc in November at 5 weeks. Fed up with ttc, I organised a trip to London with my mum last month after an another unsuccesful cycle.

However, here we are. I'll be 5.5 weeks when we're due to fly (not in UK) - flight would only be an hour though. I know if I don't tell my mum beforehand and it comes out while we're there (likely to as obviously won't be drinking and she'll twig it, she knew about previous mc) she might be upset and then worry the rest of the trip and the flight home.

So, two questions, 1. is there anything to worry about taking a flight at this stage? And 2. should I do it anyway knowing it might cause worry if/when she finds out? We've both been really looking forward to this with various things going on, so she'd be disappointed if I cancelled but would definitely understand if I told her why, would hate to cancel unnecessarily though.

All thoughts greatly appreciated :)

I wouldn't worry

, if you were, god forbid, going to have another miscarriage, it wouldn't be due to flying, or indeed anything else you did/did not do , so congratulations on you pregnancy and enjoy your trip

Thanks Lulumama, I know you're right, I think my mum would be very nervous of taking the trip with me though, even if I explained that to her.

I've read up on this as I was booking a holiday for later in the year when, god willing and fingers crossed, there is a chance of pregnancy. I found a forum where a lot of women who are airline staff said that they fly in early pregnancy all the time.

It's perfectly natural to be worried

I know lots of women who've flown in the first trimester and later , and no issues. just make sure you wear flight socks and keep your legs moving x

Hello all, thank you very much for the replies. I am going to my gp on thursday to get the pregnancy confirmed and will ask his opinion then. If he gives the ok (suspect he will) I'll tell my mum then and hopefully she well still be happy to go, I'm sure she will be a nervous wreck though.

Come to think of it, so am I...it's still such early days, I want to at least get past the stage I miscarried previously before getting too comfortable and thinking things are ok, that won't be for a few days yet though..it's a tough waiting game

There is a slightly higher rate of mc among Airline staff
But it is generally associated with long
Haul flights, I wouldn't sweat about an
Hour, just make sure your insurance covers you.
