10 Days post ovulation, got BFN, was it too early to test?

I think I am around 9 or 10 days post ovulation, and I couldn't wait and POAS this morning.

Got a BFN, but am wondering if this is too early to test, should I leave it a few days?

Argh, why is making a baby so bloody hard for some of us?!

Also, what tests are best, I have used either Tesco's own, or Clearblue digital in the past. Confused

Howdy. I don't tend to test until day 14. And find that clearblue digital are the best ones.

I've always been told by fertility nurses DO NOT test before day 14 as you can get false readings (positive and negative) before then.

Superdrug early response ones (their own brand) are quite sensitive, but say you can only test up to 4 days before your period, taken as 15 days post ovulation... So I calculated that that would be 11dpo, so yes it was prob too early.

I have only ever used a clearblue digital once, when I was def preg with my DD so have no problem with them per se BUT I know that lots of people of MN say they can be faulty/are v expensive & unnecessary. Superdrug ones test at 10mIU/mL so you could compare the sensitivity yourself & work out whether the CBD is worth it!! The lower the number the more sensitive, but it also says that this is standardized by WHO.

Never used the Tesco ones.

Final point, didn't think you could get a false +ve unless you were taking a cross-reacting drug. I know you can have a false pg I.e. get a +ve test b4 AF is due & it not stick, so you get AF on time/late etc. False negatives are common though because you need the min level for the test to work - you may not have sufficient hCG in your urine yet.

Good luck, keep thinking lucky!! Try waiting until AF is due/late to POAS nxt time though, its more reassuring... Although I can't talk!!! :o

Short answer - yes. You can implant as late as 9-10 dpo, and you won't generate HSG til that happens. Wait another few days and test again :)

PS - I used Tesco the day after AF was due and got a nice strong line, they are 25miu. I think First Response are more sensitive at 10miu, and clear blue are pretty hard to convince, I'm told.

Ok, thanks ladies!

I'm going to resist POAS until at least 14 DPO!

I think I'll go back to the Clearblue, as the tesco ones are sometimes difficult to read. (for me)
