Hi,

It is overall possible but you may need medical help in order to do so. There are treatments in place for PCOS; these include drugs, injectibles and surgery. I was diagnosed with this back in 1997.

Are you under the care of a gynaecologist at a subfertility unit?. If not you need to be seen by such a person as a matter of urgency especially after 3 years without success. Your man should be tested also alongside your investigations and treatment to see if there are any male factor problems.

Verity is the UK based charitable organisation designed for women with PCOS - their web address is www.verity-pcos.org.uk. This is well worth looking at.

Thank you for the info, I will have to look into it.
I had 3 miscarriages, but than for the last 3 years I haven't been able to get pregnant at all. my GP says I need to be more patient

Hi

You should be referred to a gynae especially after 3 years of ttc and a diagnosis of PCOS. If this GP is being unhelpful then I would seriously consider changing GPs. It is not about "being patient" as he so puts it. Saying this to you means he has little to no understanding of PCOS.

Do not be fobbed off - you should have a referral as a matter of course.

CroNanny, this is ridiculous - poor you. I have PCOS and have just discovered I'm pregnant - so it is possible. Good luck in getting a referral.

hello

just to let you know i have PCOS and i am nearly 37yrs old. i have a dd now 8months.

we tried for a long time and i had 3 miscarriages.
i never went the drugs route, but i did do a lifestyle change.
i find i only have periods below a certain weight so i made sure i had a good BMI, i also did regular exercise. it was hard to keep weight and motivation under control at the start but then it became much easier.
am now trying to get back in shape for second baby, i hope!

i think the hardest is controlling the depressive feelings, down moods and so on. i found the website mentioned helpful as well as the books by theresa cheung and colette harris which explain clearly what its all about and provide nutrition advice, hope it helps
take care and good luck
