Hello Ladies,

already have one ds who is 3. We are desperate for another child and I took out my coil in August.

Trouble is, I don't seem to be getting pregnant. What now? Please explain all of this to me, I am completely a novice. I thought you just had sex like crazy and miss a period and your done.

I've missed a period, a few actually, but all my pregnancy tests are coming out as negative.

Umm Ladies,

my period showed up today. So two months of no period and then one today. What am I supposed to make of this?

NO idea. But you should see your GP.

MY PCOS does this when I'm heavier, no period for 2 or 3 months then it turns up, afaik it means you havent ovulated, the eggs stayed in the ovary and become a cyst instead iirc.

Thats what my gp tells me anyway, he also tests my HbA1C levels yearly (which measures my blood sugars over 3 months) and does a yearly fasting blood glucose too) plus checks my cholestoral (sp?) and my thyroid, which he seems to think can also be affected by pcos.

When I was younger I was overweight, my periods didnt start until I lost it all at 16.5 years.

There is a pcos charity in the uk called Verity. They have a lot of information and support.

i'm 14 stones. :( I'm naturally a tiny person, so all this weight is way way too much.

My GP just tells me to stop eating and exercise. Which is soo easy for him to say.

There is a GP like that in my surgery whom I make every attempt to avoid. A few months ago he told me I was obese (ok i'm 5ft 2", and 9 1/2 stone but not huge). I have difficulty exercising because I am disabled with mobility problems but he soon had to shut up once I was diagnosed with PCOS, although he did say "that answers for your weight then". I am now on Metformin to help so fingers crossed. The point of my post before my rambling was I agree you should look at seeing someone else, and it does take time to get back to normal after contraception although I would look into getting pcos checked.

Pipbin · 07/02/2012 17:48

cherry that weight and height does not make you obese. I would put in a complaint about that GP.
Look at this chart: perfect weight for your height www.weightlossresources.co.uk/body_weight/healthy_weight/chart.htm

eandz · 07/02/2012 18:25

oh my height is 5'5. so my weight makes me seriously obese.

Well you weight less than me and you are also taller. I have found Slimming World the best way for me to lose weight.

eandz · 07/02/2012 23:11

honestly, I've only tried weight watchers and it didn't work out for me. I really don't think I have the ability to lose weight. I've never been able to do it before.

My hunger is insatiable--I have no ability to control it. I have never been able to. Sometimes I cry about it. Literally, I cannot say 'no' to food. I try very hard. My GP makes fun of my inability to have 'willpower' regarding food. He says it's all emotional and I find him incredibly patronizing.

Definitely find a new GP and definitely try Slimming World.

Just because you haven't been able to do something before it doesn't mean you can't do it now!

cherrybird1978 · 08/02/2012 12:46

Oh eandz I really feel for you having to put upwith a gp that makesyoufeel that way, what happened to bedside manner??? When I have lost weight in the past (pre disability) I have calorie counted and watched the fat content but have never tried anything like weight watchers or slimming world. I always get so disheartened as I always feel hungry even after meals when watching my weight. I lack will power too, I'm off to eat some carrot cake (its got veg in, can I count it as one of my five a day?):o
