Anyone else not ovulating? What happens next?

I'm 39 and been ttc #2 for two years. Just had blood test results which didn't indicate ovulation. I am on 24/25 day cycle and was tested on day 18.

Can't get to see my doctor until Friday and I'm climbing the walls. Anyone tell me what's likely to happen next?

Any idea when you ovulated? If it was later than day 11, day 18 might have been too early for the test. I understand it is ideally done at 7dpo but 7 days before next period is substituted if you don't know when you oved.

I don't really understand the question. I was being tested to see if I ovulated because despite regular periods and regular sex I am not getting pregnant. As I have also used a CBFM for 3 cycles which have never given me 3 bars and an egg it would indicate that I am not ovulating at all, hence me going to the doctors.

Ah ok. Sorry I was dashing off a response in the middle of several other things! I should have said "when you think you ovulated". They do this test as standard for anyone who goes to the dr for not getting pregnant, and some will know when they probably ovulated and so can time the test according to this. In other cases, 7 days before your period is expected is the usual timing.

It sounds like you need to push for a fertility clinic/gynae referral and then try to get Clomid to induce ovulation?

I have never temped so I don't know when I usually ovulate. I've been using an online thing (like fertility friend) for years.
I'm sure that my doc will refer me for futher tests as she's fab. Day 18 sounds fine given that my cycle is 24/25 days.

Your man should be tested as well to see if there are any male factor problems.

Would agree that you need to be referred on rather than let the GP continue to mess around in ignorance (such problems are outside a GPs remit).

My GP is fab Atilla, but we are right at the beginning of the process. And DH is having tests as well of course.

What will happen now is that hopefully, your GP will refer you to a specialist.

The specialist will probably do some additional blood tests as well as take an internal view via ultrasound.

Assuming the conclusion IS that you are not ovulating, most likely the gynae will recommend Clomid which brings on ovulation.

Obviously, all of this is just a basic overview of what might happen and it depends very much on the specialist you see etc.

FWIW, I don't ovulate. After it was confirmed I had PCOS I was put on Clomid and got pregnant on the second month.

Thanks muchly Bling :)

My GP is great - that's why it's hard to get an appointment with her. Just need to clarify that!

Lovely Boo for what it's worth I think day 18 is too early to test, if you don't ovulate until day 13 or 14 it won't have shown up. If you temp for a cycle you should be able to tell if you ov. You should see a dip before and rise after ovulation.

MadameBoolala · 01/02/2012 23:32

:o Sunny I think she chose that one because of my short cycle - she says it's usually day 21? I will purchase a thermometer though, in for a penny, in for a pound.
