Conception and anti depressants

Hello everyone, my OH is currently on 150mg of venlafaxine and we are TTC. We conceived straight away with our DD 2 years ago (when he wasn't taking anything) and now nothing. My cycle and ovulation is unchanged. I have been told by my dr that it can reduce a man's fertility to 0, although this goes straight back to normal once they stop taking them. Am totally demoralised and don't know what to do. He is supposed to take it for another year. If I were to tell him it would just make him feel terrible and he has to put his health first. Any advice or any stories of conceiving with OH on anti-depressants would help me keep my pekker up?
A million thank yous. X

Can he move onto another ad?

Are there ones that are better for fertility? I doubt he can change as this one works really well for him.

One thing to remember - the doctor said it 'can' effect men's fertility. In my long experience with depression and GPs the advice they give with such authority isnt so reliable - one doctor recently drasticly contradicted himself regarding the side effects/repercussions of pregnancy and anitdresspants, from one appointment to the next. When i questioned this he suggested i'd misheard - i think all of the ladies on here know that there is no misshearing when it comes to news on whether you can have a baby or not.
All i'm saying is, what they tell you isnt always reliable, and the side effects they talk about are generalisations, and they have to state them to cover their backs.
I think the idea of vitamins is a great one, and try not to stress too much (MUCH easier said than done, i know!)

I saw a woman GP at my surgery last week about my difficulties conceiving, and it sticking, and she suggested that the medication I take for my bipolar disorder interferes with conception. However, all the research I have personally done on the internet (and it is MEDICAL stuff I have read) has never mentioned this as a side effect. When I said this to her, she scoffed, and made some comment about whether I should even be considering getting pregnant given my mental health issues. Cowbag!

Side effects don't happen for everyone, so I guess what I'm saying is, if you are doing your best when it comes to nutrition and as healthy a life as possible, then there is absolutely no reason you shouldn't go for it, and succeed.

Personally, I think your husband is more likely to produce better quality sperm if his depression is under control. I also think he is lucky to have a partner who cares enough about him not to mention the possible fertility issues to him because they know he needs the medication too.

I wish you absolutely all the best :)
