Angels and Rainbows - The beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. But it can provide colour and hope.

“Rainbow Babies” is the understanding that the beauty of a rainbow does not negate the ravages of the storm. When a rainbow appears, it doesn’t mean the storm never happened or that the family is not still dealing with its aftermath. What it means is that something beautiful and full of light has appeared in the midst of the darkness and clouds. Storm clouds may still hover but the rainbow provides a counter balance of color, energy and hope.

Oh Dachs is fine. Finished work now. X

Ellypoo · 20/03/2012 22:37

fan - well done on your weight loss, that's a great achievement, and a very positive way to think. I have started at weightwatchers because I can't fit into any of my pre-pregnancy clothes - I was 4 stone lighter when I got pregnant last time, so I'm hoping that losing some weight will only help. We named her Constance, but shortened it to Nancy after DH's Gran.

I am so sorry to hear all of your stories, I was shocked to realise just how many people have been through similar experiences - I had no idea before we lost Nancy.

F&Tx that all of us who are ttc our rainbow babies succeed very soon, and that everyone who is currently pg have gentle journeys.

ps. I'm probably being thick, but what does AF & BFP stand for?

Ellypoo · 20/03/2012 22:40

Oops - congrats AngelGeorgie on your weight loss too! I took so long to write my post that I didn't see yours until after!
I have lost 7lb so far (weigh in tomorrow night), so am now only 3 1/2 stone heavier than I was when I got pg with Nancy!!

fanjodisfunction · 21/03/2012 06:18

ellypoo constance -nancy is a beautiful name. Well doen on the weight loss!

Glad to hear dachs is doing well, and not at that terrible work place anymore.

angel well done! It does feel amazing actually! Its made me feel really good about myself.

fanjodisfunction · 21/03/2012 06:20

ellypoo BFP - Big Fat Positive (as in positive pregnancy test)
AF - Aunt Flow as in period.

blizy · 21/03/2012 07:25

Well done on the weight loss girls! I just can't seem to motivate myself.

ellypoo I love the name Nancy.

angel thats good news about dachs, I'm glad she is out of there and away from that horrid woman.

Hope you all have a good day.

Whatevertheweather · 21/03/2012 07:33

blizy shame you don't live near me I would let you use my slimming world books, or you could come along to my meetings.

wtw wish I could stay in bed too!

blizy · 21/03/2012 07:54

fan I have sw books! I am way to self conscious to go to a class, i need to do it alone and find the motivation. I know getting the bfp should be motivation enough but I just can't stop comfort eating, it doesn't help when dh is working away.

shakeyjake · 21/03/2012 09:04

Welcome to the thread Elly so sorry for your loss. TTC and pg after such a devastating loss is an emotional rollercoaster and without these lovely ladies I probably have gone crazy.

Well done to all the skimmers, I need to get motivated to start diet and can't wait till I can start zumba again, just another 8 weeks

Going to get rose weighed today, and get some advice on my boobs, although I have done this 3 times before I struggling this time with feeding, my right is horribly sore and she is still doing green poo not yellow so worried she isn't getting enough.

shakeyjake · 21/03/2012 09:05

Doh slimmers not skimmers oops

TooImmatureTurtleDoves · 21/03/2012 11:05

Shakey, green poo might just mean she's getting lots of foremilk, which has slightly more lactose. One MW told me not to worry about green poo - Maia's goes from yellow to green and back again. How long do you leave her on one boob before swapping her over? Maybe try doing one feed on one boob and see if that gives her yellow poo.

I am so impressed with all the weight losses! Brilliant work, Fan, Angel and Elly. Blizy, you can do it too!

Elly, so sorry to hear about Nancy. Welcome to the thread and I hope you get your BFP soon (now you know what it means!). My first baby Thea was stillborn at 41+3 on 13/03/11, and my second daughter Maia is now 13 days old. Like you I had no idea how common stillbirth is until I experienced it myself. Sad

Ellypoo · 21/03/2012 14:52

No wonder I couldn't work it out!! Thanks for the translation - now I can join in with the lingo - AF due on Monday, got some of those superdrug tests (on offer so couldn't resist!) so may be impatient and have a go on Saturday morning. Not holding out any hope this month because we've only just started and due to circumstances, weren't able to DTD (is that right??) when I would have been most fertile, but at least it has reminded me what to look out for in coming months.
Going to see how it goes for the next couple of months, then look at the ovulation kits that have been recommended.

It's great to have somewhere to come, especially where so many of you have had BFPs/rainbow babies - it's good to feel a bit of hope.

AngelGeorgie · 21/03/2012 17:15

We re all be waif like the way we re going!!!
Blitzy why would you ve too self conscious to go to a class? They ll always be lots of people way bigger than you. I find I ve no self control when I don t go to the classes. I need that public humiliation & paying a fiver a week always motivates me also!!!!
Ellypoo well done on your weight loss.
Love to all. Hope you re all well??
Xx

fanjodisfunction · 21/03/2012 17:21

blizy I agree with angel going there every week is the motivation you need to make sure you lose weight. This might sound really bad but I go there to lose weight not to make friends and I think of the others there as competition. Also I am quite shy and it took a lot of courage for me to go but I did, I just thought I've been though worse than this its only walking in a room and stepping on a scale.
Wish we did all live closer I would so go to classes with you.

blizy · 21/03/2012 17:39

Fan and angel. I am very self conscious and have no confidence in myself it doesn't help that I am such a fatty just now!

Whatevertheweather · 21/03/2012 18:19

How did Rose's weigh in go Shakey? Hope they were able to give you some advise/reassurance about the breastfeeding.

Oh Blizy ((hugs)) I've seen your gorgeous wedding pictures but I know it's hard when you feel self conscious. 1 meeting though and you'd see you would probably be one of the smallest there xx

Midwife for me in the morning, eeeek! Am so nervous I might have to ask her to listen for the heartbeat first then do everything else as it's normally the last thing they do.

shakeyjake · 21/03/2012 18:32

Oops I got the day of clinic wrong so will be trying again tomorrow.

It is so hard to get motivated into loosing weight, before o had my dcs I was a size 8 and could eat everything I wanted especially chocolate (am a bit of a chocoholic) but now I am a size 16-18 and just have to look at a chocolate bar and put on the weight.

wtw good luck tomorrow for mw, I am sure everything will be fine

fanjodisfunction · 21/03/2012 18:45

blizy I totally understand, I feel the same that pic of me on facebook is like three years old and I'm three stone heavier now. If you need encouragement for using the books at home then I'm here to help. It must be hard with DH being away a lot, I think I would be a whale if dh was away a lot!

blizy · 21/03/2012 18:52

Whatever- hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.

Shakey- I hope rose has put on some weight.

Fan- I know I have to lose weight I'm a size 18-20 and I'm only 5ft so it is a lot for my height. Today has been good, I walked 4 miles and had weetabix with banana for breakfast, lunch was veg soup and dinner grilled chicken with new pots and broccoli. And strawberries with a vanilla muller light. Let's hope I keep it up.

fanjodisfunction · 21/03/2012 19:16

blizy that's sounds like a good food day, and well done for the walking! Fx it makes you feel better and starts to get that weight off.

AugustMoon · 21/03/2012 20:44

Hi Elly, just read your posts - been absent for a bit, just really busy - so sorry to hear about your little girl, Nancy. Unfortunately we know what you're going through, so glad you found us. We lost our baby boy Jacob at 35 weeks on 12/08/11, he was my third son. I'm 20 weeks pregnant now and got my scan tomorrow (eek)! Still not sure whether to ask the sex - DH wants to but it scares me a bit. Not sure how I'll feel either way.

Wtw what time's your appt.? My scan's 10:15.

Well done fan, blizy, Angel on your weightlosses. I'm currently as big as I was full-term with all my boys!

Feeling terrible today, been sick twice, had a headache and got a cold. Sad Think I might be run-down - we're moving house next week so I've been a bit stressed!

Whatevertheweather · 21/03/2012 20:51

Hi August good to 'see' you. 20 week scan, wow!! We are going to find out the sex this time never have before but we both agreed this time we wanted to. My appts at 9.40am, glad it's early! Hope it all goes well lovely, cant wait to hear the sex if you do find out. How are things with you and dh? x

Hi all, firstly to Ellypoo. I'm sorry you had to join us here, but I hope you find being here helpful to you as you deal with the loss of Nancy and wanting to be pg again. There are lots of good news stories here, especially at the moment. Let's hope there are more very soon for all of us ttc (trying to conceive). We lost our beautiful 13-month-old Mia very suddenly last October, it turns out she had a very rare heart infection. Almost as soon as she was born, we knew we wanted another baby, now it is quite a big deal...

All this weight stuff happening at the moment! Quite interesting though - we want our babies to gain weight, we want ourselves to lose weight to get pg, we want to lose weight after being pg, and then we expect to gain weight while pg. Our bodies must be so confused!!
