hi,

no experience of this myself but didnt want you to be unansweredSmile

what kind of help are you looking for? support is fantastic on this forum so i doubt you will be without answers for longSmile

That's scary. I was sterilised nine years ago, eek. Must have been a shock.

muddywindydales · 12/01/2012 19:29

I agree that's scary. Shock

I was sterilised nearly 10 years ago!

I was told there might be a chance after mine, due to having the op at the same time as having DD by ELCS. ( due to tubes shrinking or something, can't remember now!)

bugsylugs · 12/01/2012 19:59

Mittens more effective after 5 yrs use than sterilisation. Not permanent and other advantages

bugsylugs · 12/01/2012 20:00

Can never get phone to use auto correct when I want it should read mirena

hugglymugly · 12/01/2012 20:19

Yes, it can happen:

www.patient.co.uk/health/Female-Sterilisation.htm - about 1 in 200, but can be various reasons for the failure of the procedure - muddywindydales mentions one; it also depends on whether the tubes are cut or clipped (cut tubes can occasionally rejoin/clips can slip off); and, of course, on the competence of the surgeon/method.

What kind of help are you looking for? Many people who post in this area of the board know a great deal about conception (sometimes more than some doctors), but if it's more an emotional issue then maybe once you've got some good info here you could look at other areas for further support. It is a shock when what's assumed to be permanent contraception fails.
