Bored at work, getting my hopes up...

Happy new year everyone! Haven't been around in a while and am very bored at work so thought I'd pop in.

Getting totally fed up of ttc malarkey, cycle 12 with nothing to show so far, can't believe i was naive enough to think we'd have our baby by now, or at least be well on the way!

Anyway been using opk the last three months to make sure we're getting the timing right. First two months af turned up 13 days after my positive result, this time I'm on day 16 and nothing so far. Starting to get my hopes up but have no unusual symptoms to speak of.

If nothing by the weekend i will test but am i right in thinking this is a good sign? And that lp doesn't usually vary by so much? Would value input from anyone who charts more accurately.

Thank you!

PS posting from my phone so please ignore any silly typos x

Hi!

I've been ttc almost a year too, though only about 9 cycles iirc. My luteal phases have varied though, between 12 days and 16. So it does happen. But that's really looking very positive, and if I were you POAS addict alert I'd do a test tomorrow to be sure :)

I used to be an addict but habit got too expensive so i switched to ebay opks instead!

Thanks for sharing your lp experience, i wasn't sure how big a variation was considered normal.

I might pick up a test on the way home, trouble is if i go out and buy one af will have turned up by morning just to spite me!

I charted for years (about four and a half) for contraceptive purposes (have only just started ttc). All the official sources say that the luteal phase should vary by only about a day either way; but in practice I've seen quite a range in the time I've been charting, and that's with clear charts with an obvious thermal shift, so fairly accurate I think. If it helps, mine vary between 13 and 17 days, with several instances at both extremes, average is 15 or 16. So more of a range than they suggest, but even so I would think something was up if I started bleeding properly after 11 days, or still hadn't started after 18.

So I think you should feel cautiously optimistic! Hth

We have been ttc to conceive for around 7 months now and like you waiting, just presumed we'd conceive straight away!!

Apparently 7 months is not that long in the grand scheme of things but to me it seems like ages as want a baby so much!!
So hard not to test ALL the time even though its pretty pointless I know but we have been SWI as much as we can and just gets a bit disheartening when AF arrives every time.

Good luck to everyone!!

I buy my multipack tests on site called access diagnostics That was they are cheap, always available and I never felt using one (or several) was tempting fate or wasting a tenner
