Vitamin B6 for short luteal phase

I have a luteal phase of 10 days so am thinking of taking B6 supplements. I am slightly nervous about self-medicating but have heard lots of positive reports. I bought 50mg capsules in Holland and Barratt and am currently on CD9 so wondering whether to start now or wait until I ovulate. Does anyone know whether you're supposed to take it throughout your cycle or whether taking in the LP would be sufficient?

I've been taking 100mg for the last 7ish months. I take it throughout the cycle. I have had no ill effects from it but while I have been taking it, my LP has gone from 11 to 13 days, lengthening gradually over the time I have been taking it. I have been using it alongside acupuncture and Agnus Castus though, so I cannot say that the B6 on its own is responsible. I was nervous about taking it too, after researching it on the internet but I have been absolutely fine.

I am taking it too! 50mg daily regardless of where I am in my cycle( from Holland and Barratt). I am convinced taking this helped me get pregnant last year (sadly mc at 13 wks) I am ttc again and taking the same dose again and all the spotting I had (up to 2 wks before AF) has gone, perhaps I only get a day or two before properly bleeding. I'm wondering if the mc 'corrected' a hormone imbalance but I would recommend trying the B6 :)

sorry, I didn't mean to say the mc corrected a hormone imbalance, rather that being pregnant may have! x

Sorry for your loss, heatherbee. Hope you get pg very soon.

Thanks for the advice. I'm really tempted to go for it although my DH doesn't agree with it as there is some evidence of risk to the fetus in high doses. I asked the GP but he just gave me the usual "wait until you've been trying for a year before you start worrying or intervening" line. I was toying with the idea of taking it without telling him but don't think I could live with myself if anything happened so may try to talk him round so it's a joint decision.
