Fibroid and ttc

just found out I have a large fibroid during a lap after a year ttc, its on the back wall and blocking most of my cervix. A quick google has frightened the bejesus out of me. Consultant said op to remove it but op was only today and haven't had much info as yet. I saw a photo though and it was really bulging outwards! Any info much appreciated from anyone with experience. I'm 35. Laid in bed with a sore belly button wondering if I'm ever going to get there Sad

Hi, whereis. Sorry to hear your news Sad. I have a fibroid, but it's not big and I was able to conceive and carry 2 pgs (1st one IVF, but that was because of blocked tubes).

However, I have a friend who had an enormous fibroid removed after 3 failed IVFs. She has since gone on to have two children (both IVF but again not related to the fibroids).

The op to have them removed was quite major and required a lenghty recovery but she fell pg the month after she was given the all clear.

Good luck x

Forgot to say she was 39 when she had her 1st and 42 with her 2nd (frozen embryos from first cycle).

Congrats on having this bloody annoying bulge removed! When I had mine done I got preg within 6 months - after first time of trying. Not that you should expect such instantaneous results, but it totally transformed my fertility.

Do you know about the dietary factors which encourage the development and subsequent growth of fibroids?

Hi Maya - did you try alternative things? And now was the op? It ws only my lap yesterday, op won't be til Feb I imagine? I didn't really see this coming but I'm hoping that I've found an answer to not being pregnant yet.

IME surgery is best for getting rid of existing 'broids, and a diet/ healthy lifestyle change is great for keeping them at bay in future. I'm short of time at the mo but please feel free to PM me after Xmas for more detailed advice! Oh and op was the best thing I did for my fertility, by far.
