Cold / flu medication while TTC

Only TTC since October, so am new to the do's and dont's. Unfortunately i got a very bad cold, sore throat and cough, even lost my voice. Are over the counter medicines such as lemsip / neurofen / sudafed ok? We SWI recently so there's a chance I might be PG, I don't usually go to the GP when I caught a cold, but I went this time to see if there are PG-friendly meds I could take, and he said lemsip is fine. Really? I'm sceptical...

As I understand it (I'm not a medical professional), paracetemol is fine, decongestants and ibruprofen are not. So I think all of the things you list are out (I think Lemsip has decongestants in it?). You don't need to go to the dr to discuss this, just ask a pharmacist. I did in similar circs and can confirm they are VERY cautious when it comes to (possibly) pregnant women.

Honey and lemon should help with the sore throat and lost voice.

Thanks eurochick. I had sudafed on Saturday as I felt rubbish. According to my ff chart I probably haven't ovulated then so hopefully am ok. Blush will bear that in mind in the future, thanks!

What's in decongestants that's harmful, euro? Confused

Paracetemol is definitely fine.

I used to take loads of ibruprofen for headaches and I really struggled to concieve - I read that it could affect fertility and stopped taking it, and got pregnant! So I would avoid it.

I took lemsip when I was pregnant though Blush
