Hi,
I am currently on day 45 of my cycle (which is the longest it's ever been), and had an 'accident' on day 17. I am not ttc, so am not tracking ovulation or anything.
9 days after the accident, I had 6 days of light bleeding/spotting. It may have been IB, but I'm still getting bfns on hpts.
I need some honest opinions from people who have PCOS also.
I already have 1 dc, that was conceived naturally. Is it too much to hope for that we could have another??
I have spent hours googling IB and PCOS pregnancies. There are lots of women that haven't had a bfp until 10 weeks into pregnancy.
I am seeing the doctor next week to see if there are some answers there, but many of them are pretty unfamiliar with PCOS, that it's hard to have faith in what they say.
I have had other 'symptoms' such as loss of appetite, nausea, sensitive nipples etc, but I'm not sure if I'm adding it all up wrong.
Could the bleeding have been a failed implantation???
TIA.

Hi love. Poor you, you must be beside yourself. Afraid I can't help at all but this post will bump you up so hopefully someone else can advise. Best luck to you. Smile

I have PCOS and I would go by the hpts. Ovulation tracking via using OPKs or temp charting is not worth doing if PCOS is an issue.

Bleeding between periods should always be reported to the GP. You may need some medical help from a gynae to conceive again. I hope you get some answers from the GP.

www.verity-pcos.org.uk is a helpful website.

Hello,
I also have pcos. When I had ib - I got a bfp 3 days later. I also had a chemical pregnancy (failed implantation) where I got pg symptoms and a very faint bfp but then after a couple of days it went -ve again and I got my period.

I have always found that hpts work fine with me. Without tracking your cycle it is difficult to know whether you are late, the bleeding was a wierd period or something else. From what I understand pcos can result in both v short or v long cycles although I have only had the v long ones.

Hope it turns out the way you want it to.

Hpts last time only picked it up at 6 + weeks. But I never had bleeding with that pregnancy.
Does failed implantation cause bleeding with no pain?? I can't find much at all about it on the web.
My cycles haven't been short for a good few years, and they're usually heavy, painful, clotted and last 3/4 days, so I'm pretty sure it was not a period. (Sorry if tmi).
I have twinges and dull aches and nausea almost every day, and my nipples go darker as the day goes on, which is randomly bizarre. I haven't had the mentally sore boobs that I had with the last pregnancy.
What happened with your chemical pregnancy LIG?

The chemical pregnancy was very short lived - after spending 2 days sure I was pregnant got a bfp that was only ever very faint before going negative and then getting some bleeding. Neither the implantation bleeding or chemical were painful but then again I managed to miscarry without any pain and never really get proper period pains. Also the bleeding after the chemical was very light although my periods in general have been very light since the mc in april.

As for pg symptoms - personally I get different ones each time but yours sound promising. You will not get a bfp till at least 10 days or so after ovulation but it sounds from your dates you should know. Can you go and get tested at the Dr?

For what it is worth - I did manage to get my cycles down to 35 days and clearer skin through a low GI diet and accupuncture and last thursday got a bfp that doesn't seem to be a chemical ( keeping my fingers, toes and legs crossed). I know I am a long way from having a baby but it doesn't seem as grim as when I saw the cysts on my ovaries in May. Also, I know quite a 2 people with pcos who have had accidently feel pregnant, so it does happen and is definitely a possibilty that you have done it again! Good luck!

Well, what a bloody idiot helpful doctor I saw this morning.
Of course, anything vaguely hormonal just has to be because of my PCOS. Of course, the bleeding I had couldn't possibly be anything else. The nausea, twinging, dark nipples, big blue vein, sensitive nipples etc can only mean one thing, that despite the fact my periods are only ever 4 days long max, and they're very clotted and painful and heavy, (sorry, tmi), the 6 day long really light, non painful bleeding, could only have been af. She wouldn't do a urine test, or blood test, or ultrasound referral to find out what's going on. I know that I already had a blood test a couple of days after the bleeding stopped, and it did come back negative, but I have read lots of women's stories about late positives, and to be fair, my last one was a late one, I was almost 7 weeks.
And so, today is day 48 of my cycle (30 days after incident), so I will do another hpt this weekend, and wait for af.
This is all driving me nuts. I'm at the point that I just want an answer, no fob offs. I am taking the stance that I am not pregnant, until something says otherwise. It's just annoying that I have to eat and drink as if I was pregnant until af at least.

That is so frustrating lovehandles especially since your late positive last time. Have you seen a specialist about this? When I spoke to my Dr about the PCOS - he admitted that he knew nothing about it but looked up blood tests and refered me to the hospital. Can you see another, more useful doctor?

LoveHandles88 · 06/12/2011 11:55

I'm going to go see another doctor if I have bfn and no af this weekend. It's really quite frustrating when you sit there telling them that you know your condition, you know your body, and you know something isn't right!!! And to top it off, after telling her we weren't trying for a baby, and her telling me that is is physically impossible for their blood tests to be wrong, and that hpts are entirely infallible, on my way out the door she asked me if I was taking folic acid. Why the hell would she care, if in her mind there's no possibility on this earth I could be pregnant? It just had my mind spinning in circles!!
I suppose, another few days waiting for a bfp or af won't do much harm (well, other than the fact I'll have no nails or hair left, and there'll be marks on the walls where I've been climbing them), it's been so long already.
Hope you are getting on okay.

Hi just thought my experiences might help. I have had PCOS since I was 19 - now 31. After taking metformin for a while 4 years ago and been trying for ages, felt I was pregnant (had lots of symptoms sickness, felt dreadful off booze at a wedding) and had week after week of negative pregnancy tests. Doctor similarly unhelpful - all in the mind etc etc. But I really can relate to your experience as I just knew. Finally got a positive preg test at 8 weeks (having spent a fortune on tests!) and could go to the Doctors. DD born prem but fine. Three months ago had same experience but sadly two days after preg test finally turned positive about week 6, I had a miscarriage (welll I believe it was) and preg turned neg. The only way to stop yourself going mad and believe me I have been there is to try not to test and also slightly chilled on the eating as if you were preg i.e occasional glass of wine really helped me and wouldn't harm baby if there was one. My gut feel (not based on science) is that there is something in PCOS which means that positive preg tests are delayed. I really do sympathise though. The other turning point for me was DH saying that I was stressing him out (and he is the most laid back man on the planet) with my constant testing etc etc

LoveHandles88 · 06/12/2011 18:10

Thank you, that is helpful. Sorry to hear about mc.
I think I am also stressing out dh!

hi i have PCOS I have one ds who is 2.3 years and i currently pregnant with dc2 (11 weeks) ds1 was an accident after i was told my fertiility was really low. my periods can be anything between 26-30 day cycles some months no period at all!! i have been charting my ovulation since jan when i had a miscarriage, as i knew we wanted to start ttc this september. ovulation sticks are a complete waste of time!!!!! i know from having regular scans during this time, (unpregnancy related) exactly the days i did ovulate as the sonographer told me exactly when and the ovulation time was different every month!!!rangiing from day 10-day 22!

when we started ttc in sept i had the 21 day fertility test in aug as with PCOS the levels change all the time so it doesnt alwyas inhibit fertility. we started, first cycle nothing, didnt expect anything for months to be honest. second cycle two bfp 6 days before my average period was due! i was also told at an 8 week scan that the fertislied egg had come from my most polycystic ovary! was completely shocked, i......

i think ifyour cycles are irregular with PCOS then it is hard to test pregnancy cos you dont know what cycle length you are working on so it could be late and that would count for mine being so early.

good luck, i hope you are pregnant i think it is entirely possible!!!!

Congratulations princesss!!! And thank you.
