About to start an IVF cycle and understand that drugs costs vary a lot. Can anyone recommend where they have bought their drugs and had a good experience in terms of cost, customer service etc - Thanks in advance....

I have heard Asda do them at cost, which they said at the time will save £800.

Worth asking the pharmacists for a quote when you know exactly what you need.

Hi, once you have your prescription list of drugs you can phone round different chemists. Where you have ivf may quote you for drugs, Asda is worth a try, Healthcare at home is anther option to compare.

Thanks for the replies.
I had heard Asda is good so planning to pop into one and get a quote. Will also try Healthcare at home...

Hi I just got quotes from asda and central homecare. Compared to the invoice from my clinic will save £200 on my prescription! Central homecare was the cheapest. Seems to depend on your drug protocol though, how much you might save. Have heard of some people where there is no saving. Good luck!

Hi, I got mine from Healthcare at Home, but they were the supplier my clinic uses so it didn't occur to me to shop around. I had no idea Asda can get them for you! H at H were very quick with the delivery and prompt and discreet too. I got my Cyclogest post bfp from the clinic's pharmacy for the usual NHS prescription fee, so that makes me think the £780-odd I paid for my first load of drugs was fairly hefty!

Derby interesting that Central homecare are cheaper than Asda. I have been prescribed a high dose of Gonal F so expecting it be be expensive.

Jumping good to know Healthcare at home do a good service. As far as I am aware Cyclogest is cheap anyway - it's generic progestrone so it probably would not have cost much more than the NHS prescription fee even if you had got it on a private script. £780 doesn't sound too bad - based on just internet searches I'm anticipating my bill could be in the region of £1500

I'll post back on the differences in cost once I've had a few quotes....

oh that will be helpful if I need to do again. I didn't look round did not even think of asda (asbo's). mine were 1200 ish had 150 gonal f and 225 menopur, Cyclogest 10 weeks or 12 weeks on private script cost me approx 70 pounds

libertychick · 30/11/2011 23:48

I'm on 300 Gonal f, and 0.25 orgalutran - antagonist protocol. Forgot that that cyclogest will add up if you're on it for a while - I have only been prescribed 30 days. Plan to spend some time getting quotes over next few days - was NHS last time so only paid an NHS prescription charge for the lot - this private healthcare malarkey is an eye opener! Costs so far have been about £1200 for consultant apt, scan, bloods, sperm test and HSG....

Sorry, never updated on this.

I got quotes from Healthcare at Home and Asda. Clinic I am with would not quote as they said they could not beat either of them. Total came to about £1050 - Asda was very slightly cheaper but went for Healthcare at Home as they deliver which was easier.
