Ttc and considering starting a new job...

May not be right place to post but you mn's are so 'inthe know' thought I would see if you have had any experience / run Ins with this...
Getting pregnant ( hopefully) before/soon after starting a new job...
What are the right rules on what u can and can't get maternity leave/ pay wise.
I did look online but tbh it's a minefield and as all this is new to me don't really get it all.

Would be good to hear your experiences etc

You'll get the statutory as long as you have been there a certain number of weeks by the time you go off (you'll have to google to find the numbers - I haven't looked in a while) but the problem is likely to be any additional benefits your company offers. Most places require you to be there for a year or two before you get them.

Just had a look at that site and it's really informative.
Been trying to work out 'potential date scenarios' and if I am right as long as you aren't pregnant in the first 2 weeks with a new employer you are entitled to get smp as the dates work out I think..! ( tricky Trying to work out when no actual dates to work with as not actually pregnant yet.Wink)
My current employer only offer smp, no other benefits so wouldn't be missing out if I do move.

That's how I understand it, mytime yes - but from what I've read, you also have less employment rights if you've been there less than a year, so it's easier to make you redundant etc - so it still has its risks iykwim. That wouldn't stop me, though :)
