If you could take two weeks off work after having embryo transfer would you?

I'm self employed as a podiatrist (lots of getting up and down, assisting patients with socks and shoes, putting myself into weird positions to get to the heel) and I worry that the exertion would be damaging for me.

I can easily re-arrange my work diary so I have a fortnight off. Should I? My instincts say yes but am I just mad?

I did and wouldnt recommend it. I sent 2 weeks obsessing obsessively about every twinge. Take it easy for the first 3/4 days and reduce your workload if you can but stay busy. Good luck x

Yes!!! See it as your ME TIME!! Now dont go and lie in bed all day, get out and about and look after yourself for once!!!! Ive been there many times, and as much as you want the two weeks to fly by, working will keep your mind on something else, but I would treat it as your special time and enjoy yourself!!!
I've taken leave the last times and really enjoyed my little holiday ( as much as you can with two lively toddlers hanging around) but no 3 is safetly on its way so I have been incredibly lucky!!!

Good luck, and remember by the time the embryo is in you have done your bit, you cant do anything else or change the outcome, the only thing you can do is relax, and be good to yourself and remind yourself how incredibly lucky you have been. Good luck I will have everything crossed for you!

Thats the problem, I cant reduce my work load. And sitting on my arse is kind of what I was born for really.

House arrest would be no problem for me.

I think 2 weeks would have been too much for me - I took five days off work after egg collection, including the day of EC itself. With a weekend it ended up as 8 days off in a row, which felt like plenty of time to recover/relax/obsess...

I had a blast transfer (so 5 days post-egg collection) so only had a couple of days off after ET itself. For me, recovering from egg collection was a bigger thing. The ET is painless and didn't require any physical recovery for me (the emotional side is a whole other kettle of fish!). I was glad of the distraction of work after ET, but I have a sedentary desk based job.

My SIL is a podiatrist and it seems like a heavy workload - she's also self employed and seems to do a lot of long days, evening visits etc. FWIW my clinic didn't tell me I had to take time off, just to do whatever felt right for me.

Good luck with it!
