First Response pregnancy tests

I've had a very faintly positive sainsburys test with the first pee of the morning (this morning) then dh went out and returned with a First Response test and that is negative.

I started what I thought was my period on Monday, but it was so light I stopped using the mooncup. My nipples are also very sore. I never normally get sore bits when I'm having a period, or any other time tbh.

I don't want to be pregnant as my youngest is 7 and I'm getting on a bit. We also have a small house and dh is getting on more than I am.

Are FR very accurate or should I test again first thing tomorrow morning?

I always thought that positive was positive even if faint but I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination.

I also thought that if you'd been pg but miscarried it might still show as pregnant?

Mainly posting to bump for you in the hope that someone more knowledgeable will come along and be able to help.

I think you need to test again with fmu tomorrow. If your urine was only strong enough to give a faint positive with the first, that could explain the negative. Could be a false positive on the first test. Test again in the morning.

Various possibilites:

  1. you are pregnant but when you did the second test your urine wasn't concentrated enough. This is quite likely if the faint positive still had a convincing coloured line even though faint. Test with fmu tomorrow.

  2. You are not pregnant and the faint positive was actually an evaporation line. First response really ought to show you a positive sooner than a supermarket test.

  3. You conceived and then have had a chemical pregnancy, hence the fact that you thought you had your period.

FR are normally very accurate. But was it an Early Result test? FR also make a one minute test but that is not for early use. My recommendation is usually try a superdrug own brand early non digi test. These have quite a dark pink purpleish dye and there is usually no doubting the result.

Thanks for these replies.

What's a chemical pregnancy?

A chemical pregnancy is when your egg gets fertilised and it tries to implant hence the faint bfp. but then it turns out not to be a sticker and your period arrives either on time or a couple of days late. Essentially a very early pregnancy loss of the sort that you would not be aware of if you were not testing for pregnancy.

Well, the faintly positive tests have turned negative and my boobs have stopped hurting. I don't think I'm going to have any period though.

Has it been reabsorbed or something?

I feel kind of upset now, I was just starting to get used to the idea Confused

Do you mean you've tested negative this morning?

hiddenhome · 12/11/2011 13:55

I tested negative yesterday morning and this morning. I had tested faintly positive the morning before and the afternoon prior to that. My boobs aren't really sore anymore and the cramping is less.

Sorry, faintly positive yesterday, but negative this morning. I've done quite a few, so I'm having difficulty keeping track Confused

I'm deffo not pregnant now though.

So hard to know. Could be pg and it's early, could be a chemical pg, a dodgy single test or evap. Test again on Monday and see. In the meantime any unusual pain, bleeding or feeling unwell, see somebody.

Okay, ta Smile
