Just wondered if anyone is feeling as crazy as a pony in the wind? TTC is so HARD. I am taking bee pollen, fertility vits, herbs and omega fats. Sex at least every two days most of the month. Now on weekly acupuncture and had the odd bit of reflexology. I seem to be too lazy to take my temperature every day, but get a OPK smiley face d12 and a pretty regular short period (d26/27). But OH DEAR tomorrow I am 40.. (maybe that's what's get me in a sizzle)! Tick tock.

Really should not complain - DS (now 20 months) was conceived in month two of OH and I moving in together. Text book pregnancy and quickish homebirth (me aged 38). But guess I'm in shock now as we've gone over 1 year without contraception and the end of BFing but still the shop is shut.

Wish I could change the tune in my head, or get a GSOH implant.

The GP said there wasn't anything to worry about and he'd measure my progesterone if I really wanted. Left with tail between legs.

Anyone else feel like a moan? Or should we put on some punk rock and do a little headbanging instead?

if its been a year you need a plan. Go back to your gp and ask for progesterone on day 21 (or 7 days after ov) and day 3 (LH, FSH, TCH, prolactin and rubella immunity) blood tests to be done. When these come back make sure you see a gp who understands what the results mean (its worth asking who specializes in fertility at your gp surgery) and request a referral to infertility/ assisted fertility clinic. If your area is like mine you won't be offered IVF without paying but all the tests can be done on the NHS. I conceived ds first month aged 32, then spent 19 months ttc no2. After the above blood tests, a pelvic ultrasound and HSG I am now pg with no2 aged 37. I think blood tests and HSG are what you should be aiming for. Don't let them fob you off, it could be something as simple as a slightly blocked tube and can be sorted easily. Good luck and don't take no for an answer! You could also come and join the no brooking thread, its full of wonderful ladies and lots of support. Smile

oh and leaping round the room to a top tune always helps too!

Hi Ninja

Thanks for taking time to talk here and huge congrats on your bump - you must be over the moon to have got there. 37 makes you a spring chicken and I hope you have a properly wonderful time with birth and the newborn bit.

Yes - I did feel like the doc wasn't too interested (I requested an app with a specialist GP - was surprised to meet a mid 50s male who revealed he had no children, which slightly put me off my stride). I realise that with one DS under the belt and my 40s looming that the NHS isn't really going to be a best friend. Lovely OH and I have been clear from the outset that we wouldn't try IVF etc anyway, though it is a completely understandable choice for others. If we are lucky to get there with another it will have to be the natural route.

What did your tests reveal to you, if you don't mind me asking (and since it's led so happily to pg2)?

I always imagined there'd be some sort of symptoms if there was a real problem and am concerned that if I find out there isn't much amiss that I'll go even pottier.

I had a peek at the no brooking thread but wasn't quite sure how to jump in the water!

bean you sound like a no brooker to me, pop in and say hi, its very friendly and you are guaranteed your BFP pronto!

I can sympathise with getting sick of all the paraphanalia, I thinking of ditching everything but folic acid for a while now.

I would defintiely push for some basic tests from your GP. Good luck!

NinjaChipmunk · 01/11/2011 10:14

all my blood tests came back absolutely fine. I then went and had the ultrasound and hsg (die put through your tubes, a bit like a more invasive smear) that was apparently fine although the radiologist had trouble getting the dye in. Whatever it was that was stopping me getting pg was somehow cleared/ blasted away (even though nothing was apparently there) so no need to go any further with investigations. It might be worth looking into this even if you know you don't want ivf (which I doubt we could have afforded even if we wanted to). For half an hour lying on your back with a radiologist fiddling about I think its worth it.

Hi both

Thanks again - you are very encouraging. The occasional ditch of the lot sounds like a necessary trick. You're right, I'll hop in with the Nobrookers.

Yes - half an hour of fiddling quite manageable and worked a treat for you. I'm quite used to any old tomella, dickella or harriet peering in there these days - you know, after pregnancy/birth etc (no other reason!). Just had a good smear result so that's a start!

GP booked again for next Tuesday.

See you on the other thread and thanks again for helping keep me a little bit less daft.
