Mental reluctance to TTC?

Hi

Was reading a back issue of my parent's (she says as a disclaimer) Sunday Fail mag, You and read about Zita West's MOT and how the person testing it, had some mental block issues. www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-2022491/Health-notes-Fertility-worries-Try-MOT.html

It made me think about my mental concerns about putting on more weight (abt 6 stone over ideal weight - god that is frightening when you write it down - 2 stone heavier than when I concieved DS). And how although we are ttc (only a couple of months) physically, mentally I am not that engaged. My weight issues are complicated, so not sure that putting off TTC "whilst I loose weight", will actually result in me loosing weight if this year is anything to go by.

Added to which the ovulation sticks I used with great success last time don't seem to be working for me this time - couldn't see a spike. Have CBFM & themo at the ready for next month.

With my age (35) and DS's age (3.5) already we need to get on with it.

Does anyone else have "mental block" issues?

Thanks in advance
WS
Ps. I do acknowledge that there are lovely ladies on here who have been ttc their first for ages, so I hope I don't sound too self-indulgent etc.

I just read that link. It is something that I think of often - ie that I have mental blocks getting in the way. It does sound very 'woo' though and I'm not sure.

My fears are - a chronic fear of childbirth grounded in my own horrific birth that has affected my mum forever (v bad things!) even though my mum has never made me feel guilty about anything and has handled things amazingly.

My age. I'm 35 this December and worry I'm too old and that my fsh is too high (9.5) and that we will never have children and that I will be forever childless. This sounds ! when I write it down!

I have found the 'inconceivable' book by julia indi something and found that very helpful. I probably need to dig it out again. Also Sarah Holland has some videos on YouTube which are again a bit 'woo' but I've found them really helpful. I would find a positive pregnancy test a lot more helpful though Smile

Hi

Thanks for replying, sorry to hear of your fears. Sounds like you have a lovely mum.

I wonder if the NHS would offer any help once preggers? There must be others that have similar fears related to their own birth? Is the prospect of having a c-sect any less frightening?

You been TTC for long?

Will look into the books and videos you mention - thanks.

My mum emailed today saying she doesn't believe in counsellors and that "we" (our generation) should just get on with it, was in response to my despondency. She sounds more like the Daily Mail each day. She is generally a lovely mum though.

Fingers crossed we'll both have a positive test soon :)

x
