Unexplained Infertility?!!!

Hi. I hope someone can help or give me thier experiences?

I hope someone has some light for me!! I have been ttc for about 18months and have had several tests/scans and verything is okay except a diagnosed Bicornuate Uterus. The doc said this shouldnt have affected my fertility as i already have a 5 year old son. He was a very big surprise so didn't expect any issues this time round!! Other than that they have left it as unexplained infertility. I have very irregular mc (between 31 and 50 days). I am not entitled to see a specialist at a fertility clinic as in the postcode lottery I already have a son. Will I be able to get Clomid prescribed from my GP? They never offered blood tests to see if I am ovulating and never mentioned clomid!!

They should be offering you a day 21 progesterone suggest you request it. In some areas but decreasing all lab blood tests are paid for by PCT on block and individual tests are not individualy charged if you are in such an area absolutely no issue for a gp to request any blood tests.(stoke and Stafford hospitals charge the pct for each individual test (note PCT not GP but obviously they can cost what each practice is like each month)) hope that makles sense.
They can still refer you to gynae for advice and other hospital tests re infertility it is only treatment for infertility that you cannot have on the NHS that would include clomid ( but some GP's would prescribe it the issue is monitoring as scans would need to be paid for.) If someone is outside age or partner has a child also not eligible for NHS treatment but is eligible for ix at least as would be done in a DGH.

So I would ask for day 21 progesterone also ideally AMH, ensure all bloods for recurrent m/c have been done and ask for a referral to gynae.

Thank you. I will do this when go back to docs tomorrow. I'll speak to them again about best options as my GP's are pretty useless when it comes to help like this!!!

I'll keep on at them and try and see a different one!! All they ever say is 'keep trying'!!!
If my GP does prescribe Clomid would I just need to pay for the monitoring then?

HAve just looked on clomid thread looks like a few are not being monitored. Ffriend in RL has clomid cannot remember if private script or NHS. Depends on whether your GP is happy to px it or not which if they don't have the inclination/ knowledge to do progesterone on day 21 (assuming you have a 28 day cycle) then I fear they would not px it. Have they done day 3 tests. does PCOS run in the family? if you were referred to gynae on NHS I think you can have clomid even though have DC but might be wrong about that

I'll have a look on there now. I had a scan done at hospital and no PCOS found. My cycles are between 31 and 50days plus 2 complete missed cycles but this is over 18months. I might ask for the tests to see if i'm ovulating and approach the clomid and suss them out and see what they say.
I was referred to a gynae at a really shit hospital and they said no pcos and couldnt find any endemetriosis and wouldn't discuss further about fertility!! I'll go and push at my GP!!

I wish all the friends and family stop with the 'are u gonna have another?'
'when your ready?', 'hurry up!', and the 'Ah, DC would love a brother/sister'!!' It drives me mad but I don't want to tell them all becasue then you get the sigh's and the 'feeling sorry ' for you looks!!!
