Having infertility tests (results on tuesday) Heard about Agnus castus for irregular cycles and bought some. On bottle it said take two capsules (400mg) twice a day so I did from the first day of my cycle until they ran out (day 25) longest my cyle has ever been is 28 days but is often lots shorter. Now on day 30 and no period. So so so worried I have messed up as then read (after) that should only take with herbalists advice etc and worrying that I have messed it up and ruined my cycles completly.
Did a test on day 24 and it was negative so I'm definatly not pregnant. Got to tell dr that I think I've messed up.
Does anyone have any advice.
I know I'm getting pannicky and repeating myself but feel like crying.

Oh my god. She hasn't had a period for 5 months after taking it for one cycle? That has got me realy pannicking now. I'm going to my dr tommorrow for results anyway so I will tell her then. I cant believe I have messed up so much.

stop, you havent messed up at all, but people dont realise how powerful it is. there are lots of positive stories, but people ignore the negative ones.

Ive ranted about this stuff on every thread I see about it, people see it as an over the counter cure for infertility, but it isnt, it just delays your period. see your gp, tell them what happened and ask for something to start your period off, if it doesnt show in a week.

you wouldnt take clomid without prescription after all. I loathe AC, and many shops have stopped selling it.

eurochick · 18/07/2011 11:41

lissie, it certainly doesn't delay everyone's period. Many people have success with itas I am sure you know having been around this site for a while. A few have undesired effects. I see that you were one of them. For all I know, I might be too. I agree that many people don't appreciate how powerful it can be, but your "see your gp and come clean" comment has annoyed me. There is nothing to come clean about. She has not been a naughty school girl who has broken the rules. She has done what she thought best for herself. A GP is just an advisor, not the headmaster!

OracleInaCoracle · 18/07/2011 11:55

But it also annoys me to see people giving out advice that worked for them but can do serious damage. The come clean was a joke, and you have rtead far too much into it. AC is very powerful. It has helped some people sort out leutal phase defects and has caused many more unnecessary problems. If you have an lp (which can be diagnosed by a gp, or identified by charting) it can help. But you nbeed to see a herbalist before taking.

Buggerlugs, hope you don't mind me using you as an example, I was thinking of you today. How are you doing?

Hi Everyone,
I am really shocked that places can sell something as powerful as this over the counter, but it is also my fault for not researching more. I am going to tell dr tommorrow even though today I had a bit of gunky stuff with a tiny smudge of blood in it so I am thinking it is on its way. (crossing fingers and praying!) I know people feel very strongly about AC but I do feel that you ahve all been really supportive. Sometimes on here I feel that people can be harsh but you ahve all been really lovely so thank you all.

Should I worry? I take it every day. GP was hoping it would do in place of anti depressants. I still need the ADs so take them and AC.

hello guys...i took agnus castus last year and it totally messed up my cycle too. I had no period for 3 months...then when i had my blood tests and ultrasound done my gp told me i have pcos. So now on clomid for 3months. Pls wish me luck as i do for u all..xx

waitingtobeamummy · 19/07/2011 09:24

Hi Everyone, Well this morning got up to go to the dr's and started my period so feeling very relieved that it hasn't messed me up to much and when told dr she was very nice and said it was something to try later on as it seemed to give me a nice long cycle (I was 31 days all together). So that was good.
My 21day ovulation test came back unlcear. Last one had been negative. This one was 8.9. On a scale of 5(being a nothing) and 86 being sky high she would have epected high 60's but she said it could mean I had ovulated earlier but she wasn't happy. So she has booked me in for yet another blood test and a scan for pcos. So we shall see. . . . thank you all again for help.

I have been thinking about you all morning, how are you?

eurochick · 19/07/2011 11:03

Well my temperature rocketed this morning and FF has given me dashed crosshairs for ovulation, so it doesn't seem to have stopped me ovulating. I will put my rocky temps for the last few days down to be being a bit ill.

waitingtobeamummy · 19/07/2011 17:33

Oh thats a relief for you eurochick. Being poorly and stressful does affect it doesnt it. Thank you so much strictly that is very kind. I'm ok- feeling a bit fretful about the pcos as I am overweight and do have some hairs on my chin so I'm nervous that it is that and that it will really affect my chances of conceiving. Also nervous going for it as to whether they will tell me there and then or what? But feel good that my Dr is so good and that she is trying everythingshe can. Had a really good chat with dh last night too as feel I am letting him down and he was really lovely so that good. Just feel very delicate.

I apparently have PCOS (I was diagnosed 18 years ago but I say "apparently" because my most recent tests didn't indicate it). I have the chin hairs (laser treatment is your friend). I've never been overweight but I used to have irregular periods and get terribly sick and dizzy when hungry. I have learned this tends to be indicative of insulin resistance that tends to go hand in hand with PCOS. I now eat a reasonably low GI diet and the sick and dizzy feeling has mostly gone. And as I mentioned, my most recent bloods didn't indicate PCOS. For a lot of PCOSers a low GI diet will help, as will losing weight. There is a lot of info on the Verity website if you want to find out more about the condition. G'luck.
