Hello!

Never posted on this board before so I hope I'm not treading on anyone's toes or messing with the etiquette ;-)

Bit of background: I have an almost 3yo son & since having him my periods have been much heavier, more frequent & not as regular.

We decided to start trying for a 2nd bub about 6mths ago at which point I started using a period tracker app on my phone. I'd decided I wasn't going to go down the temperature taking etc route just yet as, tbh, I stressed myself out doing that massively the 1st time.

Anyway, my last cycles have been 28, 26, 32, 27, 24, 25 & it's calculated my average cycle as being 25 days.

CD1 was 15/06 & I got some bleeding from 24-26/06 (CD10-12) which I've never had before although the past couple of mths I've had some pinky brown discharge at about the same point in my cycle. When I googled the bleeding (as you do!) it mentioned it being a possible sign of ovulation so DH & I duly got jiggyjiggy! ;-)

So now I find myself 6 days late (CD31) according to my period tracker but the irregularity of my periods is making me incredibly reluctant to test yet.

I want this so SO badly that I think a BFN will break me right now.

I have crampy period type pains (but very low down) & low back pain as if AF is going to arrive but I remember having these when I got pg before. My boobs also seem a little bigger, I feel bloated, 'tight' across the stomach & swollen & I almost constant indigestion but this has been for about 7 days now.

I really REALLY don't want to get my hopes up but what do you all think I should do?

Sorry it's such a long first post, thanks for reading x

Well, no AF but a BFN Sad

Onwards to next month I guess.....

Biscuitsandtea · 18/07/2011 08:35

Oh no :( I have heard of people not getting BFP until sort of 18 or 19 dpo but think you must be in need of a hug and a Brew this morning, perhaps even a Biscuit? xx

Nettee · 18/07/2011 08:37

oh no - how frustrating. Still, it's not over till AF arrives. Hope you get some news one way or the other before too much longer.

clingingtosanity · 18/07/2011 09:04

Thank you, all offers of hugs along with tea/biscuits/chocolate gratefully accepted although I don't really fancy anything atm due to feeling sick, probably from being upset.

Desperately trying not to Google 'false negatives' as I used FMU with a Clearblue digital so it's pretty conclusive.

Just need to accept it didn't happen this time & move on.

For what it's worth, we've also got a nearly 3YO DS and have been trying for No 2 for a while now (19 mths, but hope it doesn't take you that long). There is a lovely thread here (hope the link works) for people ttc for 6 mths+.

Kayzr · 18/07/2011 09:20

Sorry you got a BFN. I got a BFN with a clearblue digital. That BFN is now 2 and a half and a lovely annoying little boy.

PirateDinosaur · 18/07/2011 09:23

I'm sorry about the BFN.

If you're starting to get mid-cycle bleeding when you haven't normally, it's worth getting it checked out with your doctor (although it's probably nothing to worry about).

clingingtosanity · 18/07/2011 10:19

Not sure I'm up to checking out that thread yet, but thank you Biscuitsandtea - just reading the 6mths+ part made me well up, maybe when I'm not so upset as I'm sure everyone is really supportive :) Hope you get your BFP soon x

Really kayzr? Well, maybe if AF hasn't appeared in the next 7 days I'll try again with a different brand but I'm really trying to accept that I'm not pg this time. :)

Don't worry PirateDinosaur will definitely be making a GP appointment this week as well as booking the dreaded smear once AF finally arrives.

Thanks again everyone x

I get what you mean Clinging - apologies as that wasn't very thoughtful of me Blush. It's not exactly like people are just waiting to qualify for the 6 mth + thread and I see now that that is probably the last thing you needed reminding of.

I do hope I haven't made you feel worse - apologies again xx

maybebabyR · 18/07/2011 11:57

Hi Clinging I have been lurking to see how you get on. Sorry about the BFN. The only thing I will say about the digitals is that they require a much higher concentration of HCG than the other 'standard' tests.

Really hope you get your BFP soon Smile

clingingtosanity · 18/07/2011 12:47

Please don't feel bad Biscuitsandtea I really didn't take it that way & I understand how supportive those threads can be.

I'm feeling a bit better about things now after going to see my Mum Smile

Thanks maybebabyR - so do I! Grin

LancyLass · 18/07/2011 17:53

So sorry to hear was a BFN. Sad. This probably won't cheer you up, but 6 months isn't really that long, so try not to get too down about it (easy for me to say, we've only been TTC for 2 months - I'll probably be equally down in 4 month's time Wink.)

clingingtosanity · 18/07/2011 19:34

Thank you Smile You're right & I realise a lot of people try for much longer than that so I'm going to be more positive and be thankful for DS, who never fails to brighten my mood Grin

I was just spoilt I think as it happened fairly quickly first time (4mths, off pill 6mths) but I know that doesn't mean it will happen that way again.

When I think about it now too, because I haven't been charting, we probably haven't really been TRYING trying iykwim Blush

Clingingtosanity I did a clearblue one the day my AF was due and it was negative so just thought I was pregnant. Then 2 weeks later realised I hadn't had AF yet so did a first response test which was positive. I think its rare though.

goingmadtrying · 18/07/2011 21:21

clinging I totally 100% understand where you are at, I too have only been trying 7 months which in most peoples terms is nothing but for me and I'm sure you is an eternity! I was mega late last month and kept saying I know I'm not and getting bfn's but deep down I was kidding myself and thought I'd be the one with the false negative :( needless to say af arrived and I was gutted, take the pressure off and try and think it will happen when it happens (easier said than done I know!) big big hugs and fx next month is yours :)

clingingtosanity · 20/07/2011 08:54

Thanks goingmadtrying - hope you get your BFP very soon too! :)

Well, I've made an appointment to see a female GP at my surgery this morning.

Still no AF, but none of the other 'phantom' symptoms I was convincing myself about either!

Only things that remain are occasional painful crampy type pains in my stomach, a dull achey sensation in my tummy in the mornings with a slightly queasy feeling (but this goes as soon as I eat) and dreadful lower back pain. Suspect I may have some kind of bug.

Going to the GP this morning as I now also have thrush too (lovely) so want to try & find out just WTH is going on.

OP posts:
Biscuitsandtea · 20/07/2011 09:40

Good luck Clinging hope they get to the bottom of it all xx

Koolmami · 20/07/2011 16:11

So what happened then?

clingingtosanity · 20/07/2011 16:59

Not much!

GP reckons that stress (recently had a hit of a BC scare) is the cause of my delayed period this month & that may also have brought on this bout of thrush.

Got a prescription so hoping it acts quickly!

Have to go back in no period in the next 4 weeks and then they'll do blood tests.

OP posts:
goingmadtrying · 20/07/2011 22:13

Omg how spooky just thought I'd check in, I too have thrush??? And was v late with last af mmmmm wonder what that means Confused

clingingtosanity · 21/07/2011 23:43

Are you stressed too goingmadtrying? My doc said sometimes we don't even realise we're stressing about things, but our body does, iykwim?

I must admit, was a bit surprised she didn't do another pg test just to be sure before she prescribed something.....

Still waiting for AF.....

goingmadtrying · 22/07/2011 06:58

Not overly, to be honest I've sort of forgotten about ttc this month, hope you get a definate answer soon :)
