Should I wait to see the doctor?

DH and I have been trying for over 6 months and we are both 37, so it's time to go and see a doc and find out what's going on.

The problem is, we are going to move area soon, my flat is due to exchanged next week, and we will probably move to his patents for a while whilst we house hunt in yet another area.

I'm really not sure if I should go a ms talk to my gp or wait till we move into our long term home which could be months from now... Could it my muck up the process if I keep changing gps?

I'm not sure what gps do anyway really...

Anyone already talking or have spoken to their gp got any views??? X x

Hmm tricky one. I've just been to my gp and they booked me in for bloods at day 3 and day 21 and a swab. Depending on results I may need further tests. I don't see why you couldn't switch gp through the process but you'd need to ideally be with the same gp for at least the next two months to get the first tests out the way. so maybe wait till you move to dh's parents and then start the process.

I'd get referred now if I were you. If it looks like it could be months before you're in a new area and registered with a new GP then if there are any problems it's best to find out sooner rather than later. Not sure if the NHS guidelines are still the same now but it used to be the case that the NHS would give you 2 free courses of IVF before the age of 39. IVF is not available on the NHS over that age as far as I am aware.

I'd also go now so your GP can order preliminary blood tests, etc. Bearing in mind these have to be done on certain cycle days, it can take a while (e.g. I went to see the doctor in early April, at the begining of cycle 5. I couldn't get an appointment until after day 3 of the cycle, so I missed that day for testing and had to get that done in cycle 6. I should have had my day 21 test in cycle 5 but it fell slap bang in the middle of the Royal Wedding weekend, so it would have been either day 18 or 23 for the test, so I decided to wait until cycle 6 - when it is going to fall on this Sunday, in the middle of another long weekend, but I am just going to go on Friday. By the time I get the results I will probably be into cycle 7.). And your medical records will be sent on when you register with a new GP anyway, but in case of any delay, take a note/copy of any results you get before you move.
