Reflexology for fertility

Posted this in chat during the week, but just wondering if anyone here has had any experiences..

I have a lady coming over next week for an introductury session of Reflexology (she also does Reiki)
I want some help with my fertility, as we have just hit the TTC a year point with no luck. I also have a tendency to get a bit stressed out, so hoping it helps with that too.

Just wondering if anyone has (or has had) Reflexology for fertility, did it work, did you get pregnant? how long did it take, ie number of sessions..

I'm really interested. Especially since my GP doesnt seem to think I should have any problems getting pg. (I think there is some hormonal issues going on)

Thank you :)

Hi there, in my experience I didn't find it that great - but I have a fantastic acupuncturist who specialises in fertility and that has helped my endometriosis enormously. If there aren't any significant problems I would say reflexology is good just to relax to, which always helps.

As I have mentioned on some other threads (the posts are probably mostly buried now in long discussions) I am having acupuncture to help with TTC. Apparently reflexology works on similar principles.

I would say it is doing something. My story is I gave up contraception a couple of years ago and have been making "concerted efforts" (which is what I call taking notice of my cycle and making sure we hit the right days, plus giving up caffeine, reducing alcohol, etc) since the beginning of the year. Out of the five concerted efforts cycles, I have used OPKs for 4 and charting for 2. In the last cycle I started acupunture.

In the 3 cycles of using OPKs pre-acupunture, I always got a one day LH surge, followed by ov pains. In the one charting cycle I did pre-acupucture, that was followed by a temp rise. I always got an LH surge 13 days before my period, giving me a luteal phase of 11 days.

In the first cycle with acupuncture I had a 3 day LH surge, felt extremely frisky and good over ovulation time, had a more sustained temp rise and had a 12 day luteal phase. I got my period today, so unfortunately no pregnancy, but given those noticeable changes in just one cycle, I am going to stick with it.

My acupuncturist specialises in fertility issues, which I think helps. It is supposed to be helpful for "out of balance" hormonal issues (of course it can't do anything for e.g. a blocked tube). As I have PCOS but no other known issues, I am hoping I am on the balance side and it can help.

Incidentally, I am not really a believer in alternative therapies and have never tried on before, but there are some studies that suggest it helps with assisted contraception so I thought I would try it.

I had a couple of reflexology sessions because I was very stressed at work. Three months later I conceived my daughter after 17 years of infertility. This could have been a coincidence, but I have since read that the reflexology could have helped. The reflexologist could certainly "feel" the problems with my fallopian tubes during the sessions.

Thanks all :) Its v Interesting to hear how "intuitive" these Reflexologists can be.
I'm naturally sceptical, but I really need some help getting these ovaries working... fingers crossed!

I have had a session of reflexology and am thinking of going back for more. It was around my fertile time and I am still waiting to find out whether I am pregnant this month so may be able to tell you whether it worked soon!
