Is it worth me getting ovulation sticks/ a kit?

After coming off the pill 6 months ago I have FINALLY got my period back, woo hoo.

I can't tell at the moment though whether I am ovulating. Is it worth me buying ovulation sticks/kits to see if I am, or since we will be having sex ast least every other day, should this be enough?

Id say on the sex side you should be coverd but i started using them after having the implant out. Like you i have sex nearly everyday but it just helps you no when to expect AF or no that if AF is late whether you have ovulated or not

Oh and the cheap ebay ones work for me i get a faint liine the day before then a stronger positive one the day after. I dont think its ever been darker then the test line as i dont think they put muuch dye in them but you will no when you get a positive

There are of course folk who swear by them but as you are asking the general public i feel that some balance is required here.

I got given some from some one who used them and they worked, so she had about 3 months worth left, so she gave them to me.

I used them at them daily. Every day without fail, i got a negative result. This to me meant that i was not ovulating and therefore there was something desperately wrong with my bits.

I do actually also get humdinger ovulation pains mid cycle as well.

So i went to get some further help and had various tests done by a fertility centre and guess what...i DO ovulate as my bloods clearly state that i do!

So i chucked the buggers away and would never consider using them ever again.

They can make you a tad obsessive, they can cause unecissary stress, they are not necissarily accurate and they can be expensive.

Do the deed every other day, take your folic acid and eat well. Dont drink plonk, stop smoking if you do and look after yourself....thats my advice Grin

Thanks all- I might give it another month to see if I can 'tell' when I'm ovulating and if not try the sticks.

If your periods only returned six months post pill usage it may be that you are not ovulating regularly.

Blood tests would be a more accurate indicator of whether ovulation is happening or not. If your periods start to become irregular in nature I would avoid using such kits anyway as they are less than helpful in these circumstances.

AM my periods only came back because I nagged went to the Dr who did bloods which came back 'normal'- but its difficult to be sure because they are normally done on a certain day in your cycle which of course I didn't have as I wasn't menstruating. The dr then gave me a course of Northisterone which brought on a bleed, then 30 days later I had another period.

Hiya,
I used ovulation sticks because tried for a few months without and didnt have any luck, after two months of testing realised we were trying at the wrong time of the month so for that part they were good. I tried cheap ones from ebay which I didn't rate but then bought some from a website. Pride Angel along with some multivitamins meant to enhance fertility. They where easy to use and read and they were posted to the house so saved the embarrasing conversation in the shop! Have a look may find it helpful. Good luck anyway xx
