ok so this is my question

last month was the 2nd month of trying to concieve with my partner (we already have a 4year old),

my cycles are usually between 30 - 33 days, but this month my husband was away working all month but suprized me on day 21 of cycle and came home for 2 days, i took an ovulation test that to my suprize came up positive so the next day we tried.

( we only tried once that month ) but some how the day my AF was due i took a pregnancy test and came up a BFN but 2 days later i took another test i got a BFP but within 3 days i started to bleed and the doctor confirmed my pregnancy had ended.

this only hapened 2 weeks ago and just about come to terms that it wasnt ment to be.

i was wondering if this time for a short luteal phase was the cause as its ment to take up 2 6 days from ovulation to fertilisation and was rather a short time for my body to produce the relevant hormones was the reason behind my very early miscarraige???

however 2 weeks from my mc i took another ovulation test today and its come up positive for ovulation. is it normal for ovulation days to vary each month as i dont know weaather to try again this month or wait???

Hi Shobbs
I'm no expert however I think one month can vary from another as (I think) the ovaries tend to take it in turns, so there can be a bimonthly pattern. IYSWIM.
I also think ov tests can be a tad unreliable post a BFP - regardless of whether it ended in a pg.

I guess your real question is whether to wait or not. Though there are no guarantees trying would get results... how would you feel if you got another BFP soon?

Hi shobbs. Sorry about your MC.

Your luteal phase generally stays the same from month to month (although various supplements and drugs can be used to try to lengthen a short one). But the first half of the cycle up to ovulation can vary in length. So for example, my last few cycles have varied between 25 and 30 days but in all the months I have tested or charted, my luteal phase has been a constant 11 days. This means my ov day has varied from day 13 to day 18 over that time.

Bear in mind that a miscarriage messes with your hormones so if you are not expecting and LH surge yet it could be a false positive.

I hope this helps.
