ERPC after 3csections and future fertility

I have 3 dcs. Miscarried at 7 weeks. Wasn't aware until 9- when bleeding started. Retained tissue will be removed this Friday via ERPC. Worried whether we will be able to ttc again for our longed for final baby. All advice welcome. Will post in pregnancy, conception and miscarriage threads. Is there anything I should be requesting to maintain fertility, e.g. Like antibiotics, etc. The sac is tiny. Is there any possibility that it will expel by itself, or does it need to be removed surgically? Or is it detrimental to my fertility to leave it there, for nature to take it's course? Bleeding stopped now completely. Started to miscarry three weeks ago. TIA

I don't know the answer, sorry, but didn't want you to be ignored. Can you call your GP and ask to speak to the midwife there? She/he should be able to answer all your questions. Sorry to hear about your miscarriage. Good luck with everything x

Sunny,i have had 2 ERPCs in the last 6 months. My consultant is adamant that done properly they should not affect future fertility. He was very clear that he would only use suction and not an instrument (sorry if that is TMI but it is a consideration). There is a risk of scarring or more particularly Ashermans Syndrome. Someone more knowledgeable than me will I am sure update you on that. You can also make sure that they give you a pessary a few hours before the op to soften your cervix so there is less change of the cervix being damaged (that happened for one of mine but not the other because it was in a rush).

You can of course miscarry completely naturally but if you have retained tissue there is the risk of infection which can be very detrimental to your reproductive health. i suspect they will give you a course of anti-b's on Friday.

You should be able to ttc just a few weeks after the op, depending on what your dr says. I am sure you will find that many women conceived VERY soon after, eg 2 weeks. i waited a month and conceived straight away (and the next mc was due to chromosomal problems, so not in any way related to hormone or other issues related to the op).

Sorry for your loss.
