TTC and spas - what's the science behind it?

Hello ladies,
I'm off to a hen do next weekend at a spa and it's during my tww. We aren't "actively trying" atm (after 15 months decided to not have swi but still unprotected). Have ended up BD over this weekend and I reckon I'm fertile therefore don't want to jepordise anything if I have (by some miracle) finally conceived. I went to a spa in November and when I said I was TTC (on medical form) they said not to use any of the spa cos it's against medical advice. SO my questions are: why? How is this meant to affect the foetus?
Are there some spa treatments I could have? Any advice/knowledge gratefully received!

I think heat not good, so sauna, steam room and hot tub no. Massage top bits of body only. But swim away, and facials are positively beneficial for ttc Smile

Someone with sciencey knowledge will be along shortly I'm sure.

thanks! I think I might get in touch ahead of time to see exactly what's there and what I can use!

It only applies to some treatments. Some spas have particular treatments or packages aimed at mummies to be. I've been to a spa with a PG friend a couple of times.

Some of the aromatherapy stuff is not recommended in pregnancy as well - the details escape me, but def avoid steamrooms and saunas as a rise in body temp is to be avoided.

Nice manicure/pedicure, head and neck massage, facial and general chill should be fine.

Yeah have looked at prices! Just one thing will do...
Ok will avoid sauna/steak room and fall to check set up.
