How long have you been trying? Are you on any treatment for the polycystic ovaries?
My first suggestion would be to go back to your GP, I If you've been ttcing for 12 months you need to go a back to your GP and ask for help. If you're over 35, and have been trying for 6 months, you need to go back to your GP and ask for help.
With polycystic ovaries and irregular cycles, the first question is 'are you ovulating?' - do you chart? do you see any signs of ovulation like stretchy, clear vaginal discharge/mucous? have you tried using ovulation predictor kits? If you're not seeing any signs of ovulation, then see whether you can get a 7dpo progesterone blood test.
How often are you having sex? With irregular cycles trying to pinpoint ovulation is really hard, so it's best to just try ensure there is always some sperm available to catch the egg once it's released. That means having sex every 2-3 days throughout your cycle.
Finally, try to avoid things that can negatively impact fertility - don't use k-y type lubricant, or saliva, you can get 'sperm-friendly' lubricants. If you think you're not ovulating, consider your weight - having too high or too low BMI can have a negative impact. And when you're discussing this with your GP, remember to ensure your husband gets tested if you are, you may have polycystic ovaries, be irregular but still be ovulating and he could have his own issues.

Good Luck

Oh and see? I didn't even say "just relax and it'll happen" Smile You're allowed to slap anyone who says that to you (even if it's just in your imagination).

p.s. if you do discuss this with your GP, if they don't suggest Metformin for the irregular cycles and polycystic ovaries, ask about it yourself.

lesley - I shared your problems. Clomid worked for me (although obviously everyone is different). If you see your GP he/she should refer you to a Consultant who may well be willing to prescribe a course of it for you. No guarantees but it has to be worth a try.

All the best Smile

I have pcos too and been trying for 14 months I was told whatever your weight you should try to lose 5% of it and eat a low gi diet. I have just hit my 5% so hoping it works!

Have you considered charting? I have PCOS and it really helped me.

There's a lot of friendly faces over on the charters thread and the fertility friend website or the book 'Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler will help you gey started.

Good luck Smile

Charting your temperature, ovulation tests, vit B6 and sperm friendly lube may help :)

ive been having a read on irregular periods as that would appear to be what im getting. ive read a lot on a herb called agnus castus that helps people with PCOS and irregular periods get pregnant. i cant say any more as ive only just recently found out about it myself but they sell it at h&b but im considering starting taking it myself so maybe that could help :)
