Reflexology successes?

Hi,

I'm TTP after having miscarriage last September. Since then my cycle hasn't really got back to normal.I visited a reflexologist last month and the next day I had a period, which for me was great as it makes me feel more normal to have a period after 6 weeks.I am continuing to go for reflexology every other week to help relax me and stimulate my ovaries.

I was wondering if anyone else was trying reflexology to conceive and if anyone had any successes from it as it is quite expensive but will try anything.

Hi. I am having reflexology - my lady said that quite often it can bring on a period - hasn't done for me, but I seem to ovulate within 48 hours - so am feeling it is quite positive.

It seems I have extended my luteal phase from 6/7 to 10 after 3 sessions (go every other week at moment) also, my period pain has been greatly reduced already, so although not conceived yet, it is helping!

friendlymonkey · 18/03/2011 21:48

Hi, have you been trying for a while now and heard that it may help? Really impressive that you ovulate straight after.

I've been using the Clear Blue ovulation test for about a year now and would only ever be on 2 bars (luteal phase) after about day 25-30 but now after 3 sessions I'm on 2 bars on day 19 of cycle which is what most women would be on so I think its really helped with getting cycle back to normal.

Fingers crossed for both of us.

Yes, been trying for quite some time (2-3 years with a bit of giving up in the middle!)
After far too much googlng, found reflexology and then a lovely lady that lives around the corner, so thought what the heck, and am really pleased I have. Seems to help with my lower back pain too.

I ask what bit I can feel - get a kind of bubbly feeling when it's a problem zone, and everytime it's something that I have known problems with (without me telling her first!)

I recommend it to anyone!

Hi,
I have also been attending reflexology for the past few months. One when i am about to ovulate (with the help of cbfm!) and one in my 2 ww. No bfp yet but i love it and really look foward to the session. I have allowed myself another couple of months then may investigate accupuncture as i have heard that is good as well.

PinkFondantFancy · 20/03/2011 21:28

I had reflexology after my MC - she could feel that there were still retained products and she was right, as after I had passed them, the womb part of my heel wasn't 'crunchy' anymore. I know that this isn't rubbish that she's made up, as I could feel for myself how crunchy it felt, and then how it didn't feel that way later on so I really think there's something in it. I really enjoyed it, but I switched to acupuncture after a while and found that really helpful too.

friendlymonkey · 23/03/2011 18:46

Ive got another session on Friday cant wait. I am slightly confused tho because although it great that the cbfm has shown 2 bars from day 21 as a result of the reflexology I think (always been around day 30), and it stayed on 2 bars until day 25, now I'm on 1 bar so it didnt get to 3 bars. Not sure what this means, am I not ovulating? has this happened to any one else??

friendymonkey is this your first cycle using the CBFM? It takes a few cycles to ever give you a peak but to be honest, what I did was to compare the pee sticks every day once it's finished reading them. You'll find that when you get to the peak you get two equal strength lines so it doesn't matter whether it judges that as 2 or 3 bars, you know you're ovulating. If you want to be sure you're ovulating, try charting your temperature because you'll get a rise after you've actually ovulated. Hope this helps. Also there's a lot of v. friendly ladies on the TTC after MC thread if you want some support.

friendlymonkey · 25/03/2011 10:08

Thanks for the advice I think I might look in charting temp, any tips?? Its not the first time using FM, been using it for coming up 2 years but think DB may not have re-set it right he thinks as we have taken time out from using it after MC.

Hello, I'm a reflexology success!!

TTC for 3 long years, tried all sorts, including temping & Clomid. We were probably about 2 months away from top of IVF list.

Had heard that reflexology could help conceive so I booked in for a 6 week course. Regular reflexologist, not specialising in fertility, but obviously she had experience.

The plan was 6 weeks to generally cleanse system, with a little emphasis on reproductive parts, then another 6 weeks to really get to work on fertility issues. However, after first 6 week course I was pregnant!

Of course it may be a complete fluke, but after 3 years it was the only thing we did differently.

I'm now 31 weeks & if only my reflexologist could see my swollen feet now Grin

Good luck to you all, x

Levana · 25/03/2011 15:59

That's inspiring laurielou, congrats Smile I'm thinking of starting reflexolgy in the next few weeks.

How much did everyone pay for their sessions, i've found a reflexologist (in London) who seems to specialise in fertility but it's £65 per session! Is this the going rate.

PinkFondantFancy · 25/03/2011 20:33

Hi friendly if you go on the fertilityfriend.com website, they give you free charting tutorials and you can store your data on there to save you having to get graph paper and a pencil like it's maths homework or something Grin. Also, I found the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility really useful too. Maybe it's worth rebooting your CBFM again?

laurielou what a fab story, congratulations!

levana £65 sounds like quite a lot - I think I paid about £40 a session in St Albans to a lady that specialises in fertility but I guess things are quite a bit cheaper in the suburbs compared to central London.

friendlymonkey · 26/03/2011 12:46

Hi Levana,

I pay £48 per hour. She spends half an hour on my feet and then the rest of the time sorting out the knots in my upper back as aparently tenseness and knots there is related to fertility. i know of cheaper reflexologist but wanted someone who came recommended and I think you get what you pay for as if they are more qualified then I think they will charge more. I'm in the North East too so could be cheaper here.

I would say £65 not bad if there good and it gives your emotional health a boost.

My reflexologist recommended I had 3 sessions each week and then reduce it to a session every 3 weeks as it takes you're body time to understand whats happening.

Congratulations Laurielou that too amazing to be a fluxe.

i had been trying for dc2 for 10 months with no success..

Went for reflexology and was told I had crunchy tubes Grin.. this was at the start of my period..

Went again two weeks later, tubes less crunchy ..

dd2 is now 2 1/2Grin so for me it definitely worked Smile

Levana · 27/03/2011 18:04

Thanks for the information about the prices. I think I will go for it! I have been trying to do it myself but feel I probably need to go to someone who know's what they are doing. My feet are really tender in places so wonder if that does indicate that it could be useful.

It seems £50 to £65 seems to be the going rate in London so will just have to pay it - eek.

Nice to hear that it's worked for you luckoftheirish - and so quickly too! That's the type of result I want Grin

friendlymonkey · 28/03/2011 21:29

If anything levana, it will help with relaxation. I can switch off easy so I nearly fall a sleep. I would not recommend having alcohol, even a small amount, after a session as you feel like you've had a binge. I was warned, shared half a bottle cos it was DP birthday and felt bad the next day.

Hope you enjoy you're first session and keep us posted on how it goes.

Hi,

I'm going for my first reflexology tomorrow - I'm in the north east too friendlymonkey and my session's going to cost £24 but she doesn't advertise being a fertility 'specialist'

I'm trying to get my cycles back on track after 2 miscarriages and lots of problems with retained products. Fingers crossed!

friendlymonkey · 29/03/2011 12:58

Hi Mousebacon,

As there so much demand for her service I think she can charge this much as she knows people will pay it as she comes recommended in the area, even some GPs recommend her which is suprising. She mostly sees people for back and fertility issues.

I would say whoever you see I think you will get a good vibe from them if there any good. Would be good to compare notes about what they say to see if there consistant with their advice? Look forward to knowing how you're first session went, particularly to see if see feels the retained products. I wouldnt mention too much detail so that you can see how good they are.

I'm back! It was lovely, really relaxing. She picked up an eye condition I hadn't mentioned and my sciatica pain so that was good.

She worked a lot on my reproduction system and endocrine system and said it didn't feel too bad.

I'll definately go back for another session Smile

meliesmummy · 30/03/2011 08:40

Hi

I'm going for my first session tomorrow. I had a mc in feb and since then ive had really strange cycles and bleeding so I'm hoping it'll sort me out! It's lovely to hear all of your success stories. My session seems a bargain at £25!

friendlymonkey · 30/03/2011 19:21

I share you're experiences meliesmummy regarding the strange cycles and bleeding as this effected me after my MC last Sept. But the reflexology really seems to be sortig this out, but you do need to go regularly initially, like every week or so for the first few sessions to help kick sort everythng.

Hope you have a lovely, relaxing session. Is you're session for an hour? if it is that is a bargain.

OP posts:
meliesmummy · 30/03/2011 19:28

It's for 40 minutes, I'll go with what he recommends regarding follow up sessions. I'm looking forward to the chill out time!

meliesmummy · 31/03/2011 11:15

I'm back, it was lovely...I nearly fell asleep, once I'd got over how strange it felt to have a stranger rubbing my feet! He said that my Fallopian tubes and ovaries felt 'bumpy' so he concentrated there and said that when he went back they felt smooth again. He said he doesn't tell people how many sessions to have but if I feel in a few days time that it's helped me I should go back weekly or fortnightly for 6 sessions, he said to see how it goes. I would like to go back next week though I think. And I'll keep you updated with any positive news!

friendlymonkey · 31/03/2011 17:19

Sounds good meliesmummy, hope it has the desired effect. I have my next session on Saturday, she works on my back too as I have big knots due to holding onto alot of stress (work and fertility worries) and its very tight at the moment.
