I am still bfing dd1 who is 10 mo and am increasingly desperate to conceive dc2. I am 38 and would potentially like 3 so time is of the essence. :)

today I have spotting/possible return of AF? Was delighted :) but now want to get moving asap.

I need some information about whether this is likely to be AF fully returned and about how I'll now know if/when I'm fertile again. Is there anything I can buy to help? I gather that the jury's out on ovulation predictor kits?

With dd we actually conceived the month we got our dates wrong and therefore I'm keen to be a bit more scientific this time. :)

I know there's a ttc while bfing thread but I think I kind of fall between that and ttc in my late thirties iyswim? Plus I get scared by long threads with lots of people saying 'my LP is 14 so I haven't POAS yet but I'm 18+3 now and...'

I'm not a pro on TTC whilst BF, but to get pg you need to ov, therefore I would get an ovulation testing kit. You can get some good cheap ones off eBay, they aren't are expensive.
With your age (no disrespect, but I hope ykwim) if you went to your GP they may prescribe you some. But they will def give you some advice.

HTH. Good luck.

Thank-you (and I do know what you mean about my age Wink ). I had no idea you could get them on prescription?

I will see my GP and maybe start with folic acid.

Does anyone have any other tips? Do people generally get spotting before AF comes back?

No I think its more of a how nice is your Dr thing. I have known of a couple of people who have, and lots who have tried but not been able to get them. You won't get if you don't ask though Wink

Ok, I just need to say that prescription charges are what? £8 now? or thereabouts.

You can get cheapie OPK sticks at Homehealth for £5.50 for 40 sticks. They are just basic sticks without the plastic casing that the more expensive ones come in but they work fine.
