Hi Jojono I have been on 100mgs of clomid for 5 cycles now - and will probably stay on it for another 2 cycles until we start IVF. DH and I both have fertility issues (I have PCO and DH has poor morphology) which is why we are looking at IVF but I still have my fingers crossed for the clomid!

How are you feeling about it? When is AF due for you?

I have been very lucky as I've hardly had any side effects at all so fingers crossed you'll be the same and that you'll be pg in no time

Well I was due af on 7th March but had a really light brown period which lasted for about 1-2 weeks, so not sure whether to class that as my af, why is it when you don't want it it comes but when you do its nowhere to be seen??? Just want to start the clomid now:-( fingers crossed for you though! will it be your first child?

Hi,

Yes it will be our first - we are both mid 30s so ready to get on with it now!

And I know what you mean re AF being late; I think I had my longest cycle ever just before starting clomid as I was far too eager for it to come!

You do need to wait until proper red AF though to make sure your hormones are all in the right place.

Hope it turns up soon! Grin

Welcome to the clomid boat!

I am on cycle....(quick count on fingers)...4 of clomid - 50mg. I take it days 2-6 and find I get some night sweats and insomnia days 7-9, but otherwise no side effects.

It is an emotional rollercoaster though.

Pixie - you sound like me and my DH! I have an appt with the FC in July and am fully expecting to go for IVF. You say 2 cycles before you start IVF - has the process started for you already?

Miffles · 14/03/2011 11:40

(ahh...just found your other thread, Pixie about starting IVF) :)

gardenpixie · 14/03/2011 11:40

Hi Miffles we were referred to the assisted conception unit in January (we are v lucky as we have NHS funding) and went to an information evening a couple of weeks ago. Next step is a consultation on the 18th of April - eeeek!

I am seeing a consultant privately for clomid and she said she's happy for me to stay on it until we start IVF as I respond quite well to it - minimal side effects and just one or two follicles each month.

I have noticed though that I got more side effects this time round - like you, they seemed to hit just after I finished taking the tablets - my consultant thinks it's because I've lost some weight over the last 6 weeks so it could have effected the way my body metabolises the drugs.

I wanted to lose weight to prep for IVF though so I guess I'll just have to put up with it!

When were you referred for IVF? I remember thinking that our fist consultation was ages away when we were first told about it but now it's just round the corner Shock !

Miffles · 14/03/2011 11:48

Thanks for replying. It's really annoying being kept awake by the clomid - the nights before "the window" too!!

We haven't been referred yet. But, being a pessimist (sp?), I'm thinking that the clomid isn't going to work and so IVF is the next step! Although depending on how DH's sperm prepares it could be ICSI. But that's v similar for us women, mind you.

We'll get NHS funding - it'll be our first. The appt is the day after my 30th birthday, so we've time on our side. I keep trying to remember that, put it out of my mind and enjoy the time we have now.

And there's always the chance the clomid could work! Grin

You definitely have time on your side - although that doesn't make the wait any easier.

Insomnia is a bugger; I don't really know what to suggest. If it helps, my consultant advised me to drink a lot of water and eat four or five little meals a day when taking the pills to stave off side effects. Don't know if either of those would help?

Great that you have NHS funding as well - will you keep taking clomid until starting IVF?

Knowing how my body likes to find new and interesting ways to annoy me, I thoroughly expect to fall pg with triplets immediately before we start IVF! Here's hoping anyway Grin

Miffles · 14/03/2011 12:09

Tee hee - here's hoping that'll happen!!

I have a prescription made up to let me do another 5 months of clomid - making 9 in all. The FC said he's happy for me to take it right up to IVF, like you.

Out of interest, how long is your cycle on clomid? All 3 so far have been bang on 33 days. First time in my life I've been that regular!! But the first 2 months I convinced myself that past day 28 I must be pg!

gardenpixie · 14/03/2011 12:28

My cycles have been between 30 and 32 days - extraordinary for me! Without clomid, they are usually between 35 and 45 days but have been known to go up to 60 days (that was when I was waiting to start clomid ... grrrrr)

I'm like you though - anything past 28 days and I'm in Boots buying up the HPT aisle! Grin
