Implanon, Cerazette, My stupid Body....

Hello All, I'm new to the forums and have a few questions! Possibly TMI.

I'll give you a bit of my background history...

I am a type 1 diabetic and had a boy in Aug 2007 (the pregnancy was not planned but very welcomed). After having my little boy i had Implanon fitted and everything was fine with that until July of 2010 where i had a 7 week bleed so i decided to have the Implanon removed and then went onto Cerazette (around october time). Around the same time i discovered I had hypothyroidism (which is now at normal levels thanks to tablets).

I then decided to stop taking Cerazette at the beginning of december after finishing the tablet pack and me and my partner decided we would try to conceive.

It's been just over 4 months have still not had a period. Around the 19th Feb there was brown blood and 2 tiny clots when i wiped with the tissue once after going the toilet and nothing since.

I am currently taking metformin for my diabetes as well as inject insulin. I also have had tests on my hormone levels and was told my body was doing what it should be apart from my progesterone was on the low side.

I do not have sore boobs, but recently have been feeling sick. I have had an increase in white creamy discharge but other than that nothing that is unusual.

My questions are what the hell is going on?
What do i take the blood on the tissue as?

I'm feeling very confused and at a loss at what to do.

I am currently seeing a pre-natal clinic at the hospital to help prepare my body for pregnancy.

Sorry for the long post!

Have you taken a pregnancy test? Sorry, you don't actually say whether you have or not. If you have and you're not, then maybe it'll just take your cycle a little while to adjust back to how it was. I know that getting off the pill is much like going onto it and that doctors say most people will be back to normal within 2-3 months but it can take up to a year.

Since December I have done many tests. Since the blood on the tissue i think i done one test a few days after. Is it possible to still conceive even if i dont get my period?

Am I right in assuming you had a regular cycle before using birth control? If so there's no reason you couldn't conceive before having a 'proper' period. Your period is (usualluy) instigated by ovulation, so the fact you haven't had a period yet suggests you haven't ovulated yet. In theory you could fall pregnant at any time!

Glamimel · 08/03/2011 16:26

Many thanks for your answers Tanif.

They were pretty regular yes.

I'm not very clever when it comes to all this ovulation and stuff. Confused I experienced clear stringy discharge in February which i assumed was ovulation... I dont know what the creamy/milky one happens for (see - clueless!) But i've no idea.
I've tried reading up on things but the internet throws so many different things up that i dont know what is what!

In all honesty i would just like either a period or a postive test result. At this moment in time i dont care which as long as one comes!

I've long been assured by healthcare types in my family that Google is the enemy. If you're really concerned, I would say go to your GP, they're usually more informative than a search engine and don't throw up as many conflicting possibilities! I'm sure everything is fine 'down there', it's probably just a case of waiting for the evil pill to work it's way through your system. It's a shame they don't warn us about this before we start taking it, rather than telling us how amazing, brilliant and drawback-free it is!

Glamimel · 09/03/2011 09:14

It wasnt even that brilliant for me! It gave me awful cramps. I keep getting fobbed off by doctors. :( I think they just think I'm making mountains out of molehills, lol.

hi glamimel just spotted your post i too was on cerazette. Took it for 4 years and loved it or so i thought , we decided to TTC and ii came off it and started reading up how quickly i could try. BIG mistake. for every 1 good story about this pill there were 20 bad ones. Dont want to scare you but i happen to agree with the bad ones. The biggest thing for me was reading that your period took so long to return. ( I came off the pill in august and didnt get mine until october a good 8/9 weeks. ) I then fell pregnant in November, but i miscarried at just under 7 weeks over xmas. When i looked into this, this is also typical of cerazette users. It seems falling preg to soon after coming seems to end with mc between 5-8 weeks. Scan showed my bean stoppped growing at 5 weeks. It seems that cerazette convinces your body it is pregnant by adding the hormone progesterone ( which your placenta naturally produces in vast quantities 12 weeks into pregnancy, prior to 12 weeks your hormones produce enough to make a quality womb lining to help sustain the pregnancy during early stages of your cycle.) It seems that because your body has been given a fake progesterone it takes ages for it to kick back in to making enough of its own again and until you have a progesterone rich lining you will be unable to sustain a pregnancy much after 5/6 weeks without the help of prescribed progesterone creams etc ( and good luck with getting a gp to prescribe you that as its more common in IVF patients).

Im no doctor, just a fellow prisoner / victimm user of cerazette who has obssessed looked into why i MC. As they say when you go looking be cautious of what you find, but so many women have gone through an early mc like i have on this pill.Hmm This is only my experience and it seems the medical profession will not look into this evil pill nor stop prescribing it ( its a really cheap pill to produce)

Basically i guess what im trying to say is that your road may be less bumpy than mine has been as there are a few good news stories out there, but be cautious and please please once you finally get your AF wait for a good 3/4 cycles first to ensure your progesterone is nice and strong. Dont mena that to sound all doom and gloom but i wanted to answer your post x

Many thanks for you response Mumtum.

I am very sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

I went to the doctors today and he is arranging to have another blood test done for my hormone levels. If it comes back low again then i'll demand they do something about it (not that it'll get me anywhere).

I dont think I've ever willed a period to come so much in my life.

X
