Anyone else about to start IVF?

gardenpixie · 04/03/2011 11:47

DH and I have our first IVF consultation in a couple of weeks and I just wondered if there was anyone out there who was in the same position?

We've had loads of tests done already so the Dr says we may well be able to start the treatment cycle sometime next month or early May.

We've been TTC #1 for 3yrs now and I am on cycle 5 of clomid so will continue with that until I start the IVF drugs. There are no obvious medical reasons why we haven't conceived naturally, just a case of unexplained infertility, I guess.

I know the odds of getting pg still aren't great but I am really excited about the fact that IVF even exists (isn't amazing what they can do?) and, although I am a bit apprehensive of everything it will involve, I am thrilled to be given the chance to see if it might work for us.

I would love to hear from anyone with any advice or who is in the same boat,

thanks for reading Grin

Hello ladies!

Gosh there's tons going on here - all sounds very positive! Owl how are you feeling today? i agree with Kool that maybe you should call the clinic just to check everything is OK?

Will read through properly and get back to everyone later but just wanted to say hi!

Sorry for not posting, have been staying with parents (pre-emptive visit so I don't have to see them while I'm on stims or dealing with appts etc) and their internet connection was down Shock

Lots of hugs and waggles and I promise to be back later

xxxxx GP

HI All

Owl really hope your'e feeling better today, if not I would call the clinic. Everyone reacts differently to ops and anaesthetic but call them to put your mind at rest at least. Lots of feeling good vibes coming your way. Really hope your ET tomorrow goes well too. Fingers crossed for you.

Dannygirl great that they increased your dosage fingers crossed that does the trick and good luck with the next scan.

Kool I had my acupuncture last night so that seems to work out the same for implantation as you're a day later than me overall. Today is even worse for thinking as I'm not at work, no distractions really this morning It is the slowest 10 days ever! Although I know I am going to be a mess Tues morning before the test prob not going to be able to sleep! Kind of wishing away the weekend which is not good!

Group hug to everyone especially those I haven't mentioned in this post - Garden, Luck, Womanly, Skitoo, lucyraggydoll, Pumpkin, Elangirl, Teds, Zeebee, Care. Its amazing how much can change in 2 days of not being on the thread. Need some proper time to catch up on everyone's posts.

Speak to you later xxx

Hi Ladies

Me again with the silly question's??

Wow it all seems to be happening when ever I need a little lift I log on to read all the new's

I was wondering if anyone who is at guy's could help me Ive just sent my (registration, child walfare and consent form's) to guy's I phoned them yesterday to confirm they had recieved them I then asked the lady receptionist how long it will be before I hear from them about my patient evening when she said it could be ANOUTHER 3/4 weeks and as Ive been waiting 16 weeks just for my first forms to arrive I freaked out a little ok alot . Is that how long any of you ladies had to wait I keep thinking there should be something I could be doing. Do you think I should go and speak to someone face to face as I keep getting told differen't thing's sorry ladies just seems as though I have no control and I seem to be loosing it a littleConfused ok alot

Thank you all and I hope you are all having a good weekend xxx

koolforcats · 23/07/2011 13:53

Hi Closelight I'm sorry that you're freaking out at the mo, waiting is very difficult isn't it. 3 - 4 weeks for the info evening doesn't sound too bad, as they're only once a month. 16 weeks for the original paperwork sounds like a long time but I guess that's all done now. There's an email address on the Guys ACU website so perhaps you could drop them an email to explain how long you've been waiting? I guess it's tricky to pinpoint where the delay has been, perhaps between the referral and the clinic, then the clinic back to you? I think some of the forms are downloadable from their website too. Good luck!

Caramel sorry the weekend is going so slowly and that you're wishing it away, I completely understand. Tuesday will be here before you know it. I still don't understand why my testing date is Friday, not Wednesday?!!

Garden I hope you're feeling like a proud Pixie - fewer than 100 posts until we'll need a new thread! Hope you've had a lovely time with your folks xx

koolforcats · 23/07/2011 13:54

Meant to say Caramel I hope you're feeling much better and Luck hope the trio jabbing is going ok Smile

theowlwhowasafraidofthedark · 23/07/2011 14:54

Hi ladies
Feeling better today. Have come down with a bit of a cough so think that's why I felt so bad after EC. Have also had a lot of pain with trapped wind/constipation (sorry for tmi!). Am feeling much better today though. I'm hoping that ET will be on Tuesday not tomorrow just to give myself more time to get through the worst of the cold but pretty sure it won't make much of a difference.

I hope your all ok. I will finally do a proper catch-up now. This thread moves so fast when your not paying attention!
Thanks

caramel25 · 23/07/2011 15:06

owl glad you're feeling a bit better. Funnily enough I developed a bit of a cough and cold after EC but fortunately it was pretty much gone by the day of ET.

Kool forgot to say, yes my hospital made me get up pretty much straight after ET too so don't worry about that. Gone are the days when they let you rest for 30 mins to an hour of the bed afterwards! I think the research shows there is no benefit in resting afterwards, in fact quite the opposite as they reckon blood flow to the womb is really important.

koolforcats · 23/07/2011 17:07

Owl so glad you're not feeling as bad. I'm sure the wind etc is due to the progesterone? Again, they told me to drink plenty of water. I bought some fybogel too just in case but haven't had to have any yet.

Caramel I'd asked my acupuncturist about the lying down thing too and like you, she said you just don't need to. Phew!

luckbealady · 23/07/2011 18:14

Hi kool and caramel, in my pack of info it says you get toast after EC, I wonder if you get some after ET too?! I am very delighted at the thought; there's not much that can't be sorted out with toast.

My triple jab is going OK, although I think you'll be able to cut my leg off round the dotted line after I'm finished!

Hope you're all well. I've been spending the day with babies and toddlers, in the hope the baby vibes are catching...

xx

Teds77 · 24/07/2011 11:32

Hi all

Have not been feeling great for the last 24 hours and am having very heavy painful AF - not sure if this is usual? Nose is much better though Grin

luck sorry to hear about the dotted line. I seem to have a lot of gonal f but looks like I can stick it all in one pen for injection. Anyway, hope you are doing okay from one fellow raisiney-ovaried-patient to another Smile

Kool and caramel hope all is okay with kitten and bite and they are nesting nicely.

Also kool thanks for the acupuncture recommendation - she was very lovely and I'm going back next week.

owl glad to hear that you are feeling better and whoop for EC success! If ET is today then hope all goes well x.

close the patient's evening is only once a month but do you have an appointment date too? I was able to get my appointment and then go to patient's evening after that. But even if that's not possible it would be good to get an appointment soon after the patient's evening.

lucy am also admiring the swi action!

Danny glad you got the appointment and hope the extra stims mean that tomorrow's scan will go well.

womanly glad to hear that you are cycling again and hope that Thursday's scan goes well.

To my down regs buddies - skitoo hope the jabs are going okay and there are no side effects. Ellen hope you are feeling a little better.

pumpkin lovely to have you back and glad you are getting back on the bus so-to-speak xx.

Lots of love to care - don't worry about spreading the negativity. Sending lots of waggles to snowbear to ensure that he/she is in tip top condition ready for the big defrost in a few weeks time x.

GP are you still on track to start stims next weekend?

Welcome to zeebee and waves to all the other ladies.

Right, off to cuddle the cats and watch cricket...

closelight9 · 24/07/2011 20:47

Thank you Kool

thank you Tedds77 I did not know that you could go for your appoinment first then go to the patient evening It's all so confusing I might be mad but I think I'm going to go and speak to them face to face tomorrow even if it's just the receptionist as every time I phone I keep getting told different thing's

Hope you all had a fab sunday

skitoo · 24/07/2011 20:58

Hey Everyone, hope you've all had lovely weekends Smile. Unfortunately I've spent most of the day glued to mylaptop working, boooo! Work has gone super crazy and next week I'm taking on this new job, so it's only going to get worse - rubbish timing eh Hmm.

Going to struggle to do loads of name checks tonight as expect DH would like to see me at some point, so a big big hello and well wishes to everyone.

Caramel and Kool, hope you're both doing ok and that time speeds up for your test days this week. Find myself thinking about you both lots Smile.

Teds, sorry to hear you're having a horrible AF. Read my pack from the clinic today and it says AF might be longer and heavier than usual, so don't worry. Did you get it in line with your usual cycle length, how many days after starting DR? Sorry for qu but not sure if I'll get one, as I've never had a normal cycle without any meds, so was just wondering.

Good to hear you're feeling better Owl. Hope today has gone well if you had ET and that you are resting up getting lots of tlc.

AFM - day 3 in the Ski down regging house and all ok. For some stupid reason I went paintballing yesterday, which pooped me a bit and has left me with some lovely multi-coloured arms! Seem to have also lost my appetite a bit, did anyone else find that?

Adding the list that I forgot last time - anyone else?

Close I was able to have the appointment and then go to the evening a few days later. But hopefully, either way, something will get sorted for you soon.

skitoo I was two days late/9 days after started DR (it came on day 29 and my cycles are usually 27 days, sometimes 26). TMI ALERT but I've had some freaky sized clots today!! Blush Anyway, now that I've shared that I best head off

Bodeccia · 25/07/2011 09:00

Morning all!

I am now on holiday (thank GOD!), nothing like being really busy at work to stop you going round the bend with the fertility treatment... Is now the time I'm going to become a monster? I've been doing the phase 1 injections - down regs? - for nearly 3 weeks now, and I haven't been really moody, and I've had some real cr*p going on in my personal life. Must be naturally a really zen person (oooOOOOooommmm).

Good idea putting a list at the bottom of each post to remind us all who is doing what, this is a really busy thread.

luck: you're EC date is earlier than mine, I thought we were on the same timeline. I guess my doctor is away for a week, so I've been kept on whatever phase for a week longer (love how they're playing with my body because someone goes on holiday...). Hope the stims are going ok.

skitoo: paintballing? Really? A good excuse for a long hot bath :)

owl: good luck with your EC! I hope you're feeling better soon

(((((((((hugs to all the ladies)))))))))

koolforcats · 25/07/2011 13:14

Luck you get to choose your tunes AND you get toast?! Does it get any better?!! I'm glad your trio jabbathon is going fine, could you do your tummy as well to give your leg a rest? I didn't ever do my leg though as I just thought the tummy was a slightly 'softer' option!!

Teds I'm glad you liked our acupuncturist. I really like the room it's in and I agree, she's really nice. Sorry to hear your having the mother of all AFs, I can't say I remember mine being much different to usual (although like yours it was a few days later), maybe a bit longer but not heavier. You could always give the Guy's nurses a call. Apart from it being a nuisance, I guess the whole point is to get a nice thin womb lining before you start stimming, so it sounds like you're getting there. Btw I think you said you had the gonal f stims? That's what I had and I'm happy to say that's the nice easy one that you don't have to fill or anything, yay!

Skitoo, you sound super busy Shock so I hope you're managing to squeeze a bit of relaxing in too. You're very sweet to be thinking about me and Caramel, thanks! I find myself wondering how people are getting on and ALWAYS wonder if I'm sitting alongside MNers when I'm in the clinic waiting room Smile. Paintballing, eh? I'll now think of you as Lara Croft!! I don't remember being too tired during down regs but I took it quite easy I think (and it made me so emotional that I would have left the field crying if anyone had shot me in paintball!!)

Bodeccia...HAPPY HOLIDAYS! My friend also down regged around her consultant's trips to Barbados! If you're not feeling bad after 3 weeks of it maybe you've escaped it. Sorry to hear you've had some other stuff going on - you definitely get the zen award!

No news with me, I'm still waiting to test. Went to a family BBQ yesterday and spent most of the day swinging to and fro on a hammock...then wondered if that was such a good idea!! Caramel I hope you're feeling as calm as can be expected today Smile.

bugsylugs · 25/07/2011 13:29

Hi and Hugs to all
Grr was in the middle of a long post was soo excited as is the first time in over a week I have been nr a computer except for work it has joined the other posts floating around going nowhere.
kool hope you are keeping calm, relaxed as can be expected. I think swinging on a hammock would be great for kittenkool, so relaxing and comforting.
caramel nearly there hope you are managing to stay relaxed.
Zeebee we will be starting later in the yr keeps going back. this is such a lovely thread and so helpful

will try and catch up later as so much happens so quickly

theowlwhowasafraidofthedark · 25/07/2011 17:04

Hi all
Hope everyone is well. Sorry for my absence and failure to keep up with everyone. I've got a hacking cough still which is really getting me down. My embryos we all grade 1 on sunday so they are hopefully doing a blast transfer tomorrow. Am not sure if I'll be able to stay still am coughing so much :(

Bodeccia I didn't have too many symptoms with the dr - hopefully this will be lucky for us!

Good luck to all

bugsylugs · 25/07/2011 17:06

owl great news on the little embryos waggle dancing afresh for tomorrow

Teds77 · 25/07/2011 17:39

owl that's lovely news - good luck for tomorrow.

Bodeccia I think I'll be on the down regs for 2 weeks and 4 days not sure how that compares?

Kool I am on gonal f and there are pens in my drugs package but there are some little caps of liquid too??

caramel25 · 25/07/2011 18:18

Owl good luck for tomorrow. I'm sure your cough will be fine.

Dannygirl hope the increased dosage is working a treat and your scan shows some good results.

Kool I'm sure hammock swinging is very relaxing and probably did the little kitten good! I worried that I'd carried too bog a shopping bag on Saturday and make DH try it out to check - I'm going crazy!

Test day tomorrow for me, had a bit of a melt down Saturday as I don't think I'm BFP, my symptoms disappeared overnight, boobs had been really sore and now they're not. So I've pretty much convinced myself test will be negative, I guess a positive will be a good surprise! Not sure whether to take my laptop home in case I'm too teary to brave the train and go to the office.

Anyway, will let you know how it goes!

Sorry its a short post, I'm at work but will try and post more later xxxx

koolforcats · 25/07/2011 18:33

Hi bugsylugs thanks for your thoughts Smile

Owl great news re your top quality embies! Are you going to definitely go for one now? Don't worry too much about coughing, the transfer really doesn't take long, so maybe take a sweet to suck, take deep breaths and relax as much as you can. Good luck!

Teds, I'm curious about your caps of liquid! Mine had the pen in the main compartment and the little needle attachment things in lottle caps in the compartments above.

Hang in there Caramel, it's so hard not to analyse everything isn't it? My boobs have been mega sore but they were even before the transfer so I think that's just the progesterone anyway. Will DH be with you when you test? Will be thinking of you and have everything crossed xx

koolforcats · 25/07/2011 18:34

Teds I meant little, not lottle Blush

luckbealady · 25/07/2011 19:56

owl fantastic news that you've got to blast stage! You'll be fine for ET, it will all be so amazing that you'll forget to cough. Good luck!!

caramel - good luck tomorrow sweetie. Our nurse said to me that you just cannot judge symptoms during 2ww as your body is all over the place. She says people even bleed and are still pg. I've got everything crossed for you.

bodeccia I can't believe they've kept you downregging for another week to accommodate someone's holiday!! That's shocking!

This is short and sweet as I need to go and jab jab jab. wave to everyone else and a big group hug for us all ((((())))).

xx
