Hi
Well my cycles used to be CD29-34. Since my second miscarriage I've gone up and up! Last cycle was 39 days and I ovulated on CD28. This time no ovulation was detected and I'm on CD40. I saw my GP yesterday and she examined me. She said there was no sign of my AF starting and my cervix was closed.

I had specks of blood CD20-23. Then very light brown when I wiped at CD33-38 (not even enough to mark a liner). She said I wasn't out until my AF showed up but if I was pregnant it would have happened by now. I was gutted. I want this so much.

Anyone else stuck in limbo?! I need others to go quietly mad with Confused

amuminwaiting really hope you get some answers soon! I thought I might be in the same boat but AF just showed up on CD37! I hate these long cycles...the pill seems to have really mucked me up...I always used to be a straight 28!

Hi amuminwaiting I had a mc in jan and am still waiting for af day 45 now and had two bfn. Good luck. X

Hi BlueCrane and shorty100
It's crap isn't it?! I'm on CD43 and I think I may have ovulated on CD41. I did an OPK and the lines were pretty much as dark as each other (I never get the surge line a lot darker than the test line, it's the same at best). So that would mean another week or so to wait for my AF.

My aunt's a midwife and she emailed me last night to say that she is seeing a woman at the moment in her 40s who is on pregnancy number ten and hadn't had a period for a year! As she got bigger and felt worse, she thought she had cancer or something. Our bodies are always playing tricks on us.

For months after my first miscarriage I kept being convinced I was pregnant. But now it seems that before my AF I get bad nausea and swollen, tender breasts. When I am pregnant I get less symptoms than months I'm not!

I miss my 28 days too. Every month my cycle gets longer and I have less chances of getting pregnant each year. So sorry it's taking so long shorty100. I know how desperate the need is to be pregnant again after a MC. It doesn't stop the pain of losing your baby but it puts your focus on something else as well. I wish I could go back to when I was first pregnant and feel that excitement and niavity again. The second time it was all anxiety.

Hope our bodies sort themselves out sooner rather than later!

I'm in and blue crane i agree with these very long cycles....

I've not been testing ovulation as its only my first month of trying but i'm on day 41 of cycle now and getting slightly pissed off lol

My periods have always been quite irratic, but after having 4 years of different contraception it seems to have buggered me up really bad!!!

i've been to the Doc's regarding Pcos but the blood tests came back clear for all abnormalities, he just said "give it time for them to come back into a regularish pattern" - thing is, i've never had a regularish pattern anyway!!!!

On the plus side, my mum is the same and she was success full with five pregnancies over the years so i'm not worrying too much yet. Although it does annoy me when others know exactly what day is what and there bodies work like "clock work"

Hi oceynorm,

re your comment:-

"i've been to the Doc's regarding Pcos but the blood tests came back clear for all abnormalities, he just said "give it time for them to come back into a regularish pattern" - thing is, i've never had a regularish pattern anyway!!!!"

What hormone levels were tested and on which days?.
Chances are that with persistant long term irregular cycles, they will not settle back into a regular pattern at all. It is all too easy to be fobbed off and therefore I would urge you to seek a second opinion from another GP in the practice with a view to getting a gynae referral.

Ideally a day 2 test should have been done to check your LH level against that of your FSH level. If that was not done then this is poor practice.

What contraception can do with long term irregular cycles is mask the symptoms of the underlying problem. There is no real evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate.

PCOS and thyroid problems should always be looked for closely if periods have always been irregular in nature. Many GPs are ignorant when it comes to PCOS as well and do not recognise it.

If your periods have always been irregular chances are that something like one of the above has been missed.

Thanks Attila

Like i said, i'm not hugely worried yet, because i only started TTC in Feb.

If it becomes a problem after say TTCing for 12 months then i will think about going to the Doc's then. I'm only 25 so it's not like my body clock is ticking loud as yet.

Also like i said, my mother had the same problem but never had any problem at all with conception.

You comment was greatly received though :D and it is somthing to keep in mind.

AttilaTheMeerkat · 05/03/2011 21:53

Hi Oceynorm,

I had similar problems with my cycles going non existant after the pill. My cycles pre pill were also pretty much non existant. In my case PCOS was the cause.

If your cycles remain just as irregular after 6 months then a visit to the GP is certainly in order to ask at that time for a referral. I was referred after six months and received an appt a few months later.

aMuminwaiting · 06/03/2011 10:04

Hi all
I'm going to ask my GP to test for PCOS Tuesday. I had a thyroid test after my second miscarriage and that came back negative. I know something isn't right anymore.
I'm fed up too with GPs and consultants always giving the "it should sort itself out, give it time" and the classic "there's no reason you should have another miscarriage in the future". Well if I wanted bland, non commital, stock answers I would have gone to Mystic bloody Meg not a qualified doctor!
