Anyone conceive while breastfeeding?

Struggling with weaning 13-month-old, still having 3-4 shortish feeds a day.

Don't mind the breastfeeding but I really want a second baby.

I haven't used contraception since December '08! Is breastfeeding stopping me getting pregnant?

I'm a bit concerned by all the people who have said that they miscarried. Is there a link between breastfeeding whilst pregnant and miscarriage?

i conceived when i was breastfeeding and my dd was 9 months old.

I think the theory is that BF causes the uterus to contract, but so do other things like sex and you would only be advised against that if you had a history of miscarriage. If you have a normal, healthy pregnancy then there is no risk that I'm aware of.

I am starting to hope that BF can start labour though, I'm 38 weeks now and I've had enough!!

Conceived when BFing DD on demand (at this point about 5 times a day) at 14/15 months. Sex once.

Thanks guys. I'm TTC and breastfeeding regularly so miscarriage is a big concern. There were a lot of miscarriages mentioned in this thread. Do any of the ladies who miscarried suspect that it is due in part to BFing?
