Need a little advice on using these as it's my first time.

It says on the instruction leaflet to wait for the test and urine to reach room temperature (about 20 mins) before testing. My house is bloody cold as we don't have central heating so I'm a bit worried it might be too cold. Is it really necessary to wait?

Tried them out yesterday just to check it, and the control line was pretty faint. I didn't get a test line at all, but 1 day after AF finished I wasn't surprised.

Do you think this might be down to the temp in my house? I've got a little radiator, perhaps if I heat the room up before I test and then leave it the 20 mins that would help?

Also, what time of the day do you test? I settled on around 11.30 after reading FMU was not the way to go. Does that sound right?

Want to get this right this month if I can! Thanks so much for any advice.

Hi there. I use these too. When I read the ?room temperature? thing I was also confused, and envisaged complicated arrangements of producing a sample, keeping it stored then testing later. This was made even more complicated by the fact I work during the day, and obviously don?t have time to wait around till my wee got to room temperature!!

However, a helpful person on here explained that these are also probably used in labs, where samples have previously refrigerated. In this case they need to be left to ?warm up? before testing. However, testing at home, it?s fine to test at body temp, you don?t need to wait for your wee to ?cool down?. So, on the days I am at work I just peed in a plastic cup, and tested straight away!

I aim to do mine at 2pm as I believe it takes a while for the hormone to show up in your urine. 11:30 may be a bit too early. You should also try to limit your fluid intake and not go to the loo for 4 hours before you test, to make sure your urine is concentrated, and so more likely to show up the surge.

That's brilliant, thanks so much for your advice :)

Wish me luck!

I used these and got quite a few comments stating that there is always two lines on ovulation tests. My tests only ever had 2 lines when I was ovulating. the rest of the time there was just the control line
