Hi All

AF arrived on Friday - bugger! I'm off to the docs next week to get things rolling and DH is due his second SA results this week too. Am thinking positively this week (not sure how long that will last though) and actually felt much more stressed in the run up to AF than I did once it actually showed up.

So sorry Keziah - not much more to say really Sad

Any news from you yet Lychees?

tillydream · 23/01/2011 16:12

Hi Ladies,

Would you mind if I joined you? I've been lurking for a while but am feeling stronger to be able to share my journey and hopefully help whilst TTC#1.
Like many, my inability to conceive is unexplained. 3IUI's all BFN, 2 IVF, few eggs but BFP both times,m/c 6+3 and mmc 10 weeks. I'm using CBFM as I figure it must happen sometime surely....to give up would be a crime but some months like so very many of you, it's a very painful journey. Hope to make many friends along the way.
Wishing you all happiness and baby dust
Tilly :)

The bitch got me! Why is it so depressing? Am I the only one who now starts crying when she starts? Sad A blot on an otherwise perfect birthday weekend treat that DP had organised for me. Is it really possible to get pregnant at 44 or am I just kidding myself?

Congrats to all the BFPs - I'm glad to hear things seem to be going relatively smoothly with you all! Smile

SlightlyBabyCrazed · 23/01/2011 18:55

zebedeethezebra - you are most certainly not the only one that is gutted on day 1s! As long as you're ovulating I don't think any age is too late.

I seem to come from a line of females that could pop babies out no problem - my mother had 4, her two sisters had 4 and 9!!! Then the 9 have reproduced giving average 4 each! Quite depressing. I feel that all the years I tried so hard not to get pregnant were such a waste now - I suspect most of us are feeling that way too!

fr00tbat · 24/01/2011 09:31

Hi all. Was hoping to pose a question to my learned companions....
Am now on cycle 3 with cbfm-
Cycle 1: started poas D7, high D10-18, peak D19-20, cycle 31 days.
Cycle 2: started poas D9, high D10-20, peak D22-24, cycle 34 days.
This month, started poas D10, now D20, still low-doing everything the same, has this happened to anyone else?? Is this anovulatory pattern? Not sick, no worrirs, chilled this month-now a bit confused. Even have ewcm last day or so. Is it possible for it to go to peak straight away- if so seems little point in having damn thing if provides no more warning than calender!!!
Advice??

Welcome Tilly, I have added your stats but if you would like us to monitor your cycle day, too let us know. Sounds like you've had a long and very difficlut journey so far. Hope it's not for much longer.

Sorry AF got you Pink, Zebedee and Keziah. I also get very down on CD1 and CD2 and then its all up and down from then on.

HI smilebaby, it's not unusual not to get highs or peaks in the first cycle as the CBFM is findogn your "levels".

Fr00tbat, I have a couple of cycles when I've gone straight from low to peak [not much help on the planning front]. However, I wonder if after two cycles of lots of highs, your CBFM "realises" that its threshold for your highs is too low so it had adjusted its levels and is looking for a higher oestrogen level before giving you a high. So perhaps you could be in for only one or two highs before your peak this month.

As for me, my official testing day is on Thursday and I'm not planning on testing early. If I get a BFN then it's onto a second Clomid cycle for me and a possible second IUI attempt.

How's everyone else doing?

Lychees · 24/01/2011 10:57

Belated Birthday wishes, Zebedee. It was my birthday last week, too.

boba82 · 24/01/2011 10:59

Pink, Keziah & zebedee sorry AF got you Sad Try and focus on the positives that you can get cracking again for this month and drown your sorrows in wine! I know how disappointing it is so feel free to vent.

Welcome tilly

fr00bat sounds like your cycles are irregular but I'm no expert. Have ou been to docs yet?

Hope everyone else is ok?

Lychees any news from you?

OP posts:
Clockspotter · 24/01/2011 11:08

Not too bad thanks Lychees.

Definitely know what everyone means about Day 1 blues but also strangely have hope every month again that 'this will be the month'.

Thing I find hardest is trying not to syptom spot every bloody month. As if by sheer will-power and talking myself into it there will be a baby in there. Something most people seem to take for granted seems so distant at the moment.

Anyway, peaked Thursday/Friday, but didnt manange to coherce DP into SWI until Friday eve so we'll just have to keep everything crossed it wasnt too late! Both so busy now that'll be it for the month!

boba82 · 24/01/2011 11:23

TinaO99 · 24/01/2011 16:34

zebedeethezebra and everyone else, I also cry every time I start, I convince myself that when I get sore boobs it means I'm pregnant when all it means is that my period is on its way! Trying to relax though now, 2nd blood test for progesterone due on friday this week so am crossing my fingers this is ok, at my age I know it could take some time and at least I'm ovulating according to the monitor!

clockspotter I know what you mean about symptom spotting! i'm constantly on the Internet trying to work out if I've conceived!

Tina :-)

tillydream · 24/01/2011 18:45

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm on CD8, (sorry I didn't put it first time) so gearing up to a week of 'it'Wink (What do we call it on here?! - don't want to offend anyone!!)

zebedeethezebra AF gets me like that all the time, especially hard when like Clockspotter and Tina you have convinced yourself that this could truly be THE month! Like Tina, I'm online with every twinge and sore boob! You'd have thought the PMA would have done the trick on its own but not so far!!

Fr00tbat - Sorry I can't help with your question but I've recently started taking Agnus castus days 1- Peak (NOT AFTER PEAK) and so far its regulated periods really well - Been 3 months now. I would try anything though but this one piece of advice seems to work for me and I've had peak every time in the past 3 months. Apologies if you've tried it.

Lychees FX crossed.

Positive thoughts to everyone.
Tilly xx

fr00tbat · 25/01/2011 08:57

Thanks tilly, will give it a go, not that irregular so might do the trick.
X

zebedeethezebra · 25/01/2011 09:17

Yes! Symptom spotting - I've been there!

chocciechip · 25/01/2011 11:37

Hope you're all well.

I agree that CD 1 is definately the worst day of the month, but it can be a lot worse! i.e. if you tested early and got a positive that three days later turns into a 'late' period; or if you do an early test and get an evaporation line which you convince yourself is a positive. That experience is devastating in the extreme when CD1 arrives. Seriously, try keep away from early testing - its very bad for the soul.

And I've realsied that symptom spotting is another form of torture and confusion. I spent all of last year convincing myself that my sore breasts were a postive sign, but when I actually did finally get my BFP, I realised it is a totally different kind of soreness (for me anyway). And I remembered this soreness from my first BFP as well. VERY VERY tingly nipples as well as sore and very swollen breasts - not just the bruised sort of soreness that fades that I was getting towards the end of my period.

And to those who only manage to SWI once or twice.... don't beat yourself up (I used to torture myself over this). We only managed to SWI twice in the cycle that ended up with BFP, so if its the right month, its the right month.

It's all easy to say, isn't it ... The roller-coaster of hope and despair is so hard. My roller coaster continues to an early scan on Thurs - my breasts are losing their 'tenderness' which is a bit worrying.

Did anyone listen to Chris Evans on Friday? Apparently he talked about their struggles TTC. I'm off to listen to it now online.

boba82 · 25/01/2011 13:28

choccie I totally agree with everything you said. It is torturing yourself but very hard to give up when you're desperate for a baby!

I've got scan on Thurs too, we really are on the same journey ATM.

I only caught the tale end of that discussion on Chris Evans so am keen to listen to it also. Good luck for Thurs.

PinkCustard · 25/01/2011 14:15

Hi,

My DH mentioned the Chris Evans thing so I'm going to give it a listen too (I'm obsessed to watch/listen to anything to do with fertility at the mo).

Saw my doc yesterday and she's referring us to a specialist - just need to wait for referral letter to come through so I can try and get an appointment.

I asked her about how often we should be having sex bearing in mind DH's lower than normal sperm motility and her advice was to refrain for a few days prior to ovulation to let them build up, and then once we've got underway every day is just as effective as waiting every other day as it's better to get more in there...interesting - a new regime this month then.

Just at boring part of cycle for me at the mo...

Good luck all

chocciechip · 25/01/2011 15:47

pinkcustard If it helps, my fertility consultant told us that the fastest and best sperm seem to be concentrated in the first bit of ejaculate. The thinking then that more often gives more of those type a head start. HOWEVER, this didn't work for us even though we started to apply the logic as though it was gosple and got screwed up with misery when it didn't work. What did work was about 4 days of abstinence for DH and then SWI'ing on the peaks and no other days.

Actually, what I suspect helped the most was a big vitamin regime for my DH which he followed religiously and is still taking now. Are you guys doing that?

I genuinely think its a bit of a lottery and we live in a world and a time where we can control everthing so we drive ourselves crazy trying to control this too. TTC for me has been nature's cruel way of slapping me back into my place (which is amongst all the other furry animals).

boba I'll be thinking of you. Will you be about 8 weeks? This will be 6 weeks for me and I've been told there's a chance they won't see anything because it's very early. DH is freaking out big-time - so stressed.

I've not listened to Chris Evans yet... def going to do so now. I've realised that even if I went on to have 10 successful pregnancies (ha ha) I will forever identify most closely and painfully with women who struggle TTC and see myself as one of them.

Harry2007 · 25/01/2011 17:33

Hi Ladies,

Just thought I'd pass on a bit of advice to Boba and Choccie given that I'd had 11 early scans by the time I was 11 weeks - starting at 4weeks!

All scans before 9 weeks were internal, however, they're not as bad as they sound and you're so engrossed with the image on the screen, it doesn't really sink in where the probe actually is Wink (apologies if you've already had one of these and already know this).

From 4 weeks to 6 weeks, I saw a sac with a blob in it it! Started to see a fetal pole from about 6 weeks and it was 6 weeks and 3 days that I saw the magical heartbeat Grin. Hope this is useful, BUT, bear in mind that just a few days this early on makes a huge amount of difference e.g. no heartbeat at 6+1, heartbeat at 6+3.

Soooo, moral of the story - everyone is different, babies grow at different rates and TRY not to worry with what you see - I know this is easier said than done though.

Good luck ladies and hi to everyone else xxx

(30 weeks for me now - c-section booked in 8 weeks time)

Ilovekittyelise · 25/01/2011 20:54

choccie don't worry about the nipples; the 'tingle pain' doesn't last so you mustn't be alarmed - symptoms come and go and change, and change back, its really hard but try not to read too much into things and just keep your focus on that scan!

I too had the 'dildocam' last week; wasn't uncomfortable at all, just a relief to see the blob in the right place; now just hoping it stays there and it's in reasonably good health.

harry i saw my heartbeat at 6+3 as well; only difference between this and the last was that last time they could see it transabdominally at 6+4 and this time it wasnt clear enough at 6+3 hence the phallic delight!

hope everyone else is well. im feeling a bit emotional as its fast approaching kitty's due date. i think i might make a donation to the down's syndrome association to mark the occasion.
