Not sure how popular an Ashermans Support thread will really be as the first time I started reading about it I felt sick with fear and flipped the computer shut straight away!

I've since got a lot braver and much better informed, mainly by the lovely people on www.ashermans.org and Dr Adrian Lower

So now I've been diagnosed (finally) and am having an operation on 16th November. Anyone want to keep me company on my journey through treatment and hopefully TTC again afterwards?

You will be in safe hands with Mr Lower Redmeanie, best of luck for your appointment and fingers crossed for a BFP soon x

Thanks for your support. I wasn't sure if there was anyone still reading this.xx

Update - had an appointment with Mr Lower. No Ashermann's luckily. Hope this reassures some people as I have worried about this for a year. I, too have had lighter periods & pain but it just shows that it's not always the worst case scenario. Although he did say I might have blocked tubes since I haven't conceived again yet but I'm hoping that isn't the case either. Need to try to be more positive now.x

Hello!

What a great thread (so pleased to hear about your baby, MummyAbroad!) - have read through it all now.

I don't know if there is anyone still around? I suspect I might have Asherman's but I wouldn't want to bet my life on it.

Risk factors - my gynae-related parts have certainly been through it!

2 x ERPC for late first trimester losses
Infection following one of the ERPCs
Hysteroscopy and Laparoscopy
.. which revealed mild endo which was lasered off (5 years ago now)
Retained placenta after DC1 which got infected two weeks later (no ERPC) - also midwife had to tug on it to release it post birth
Incompetent cervix, and a transvaginal stitch with DC2 which caused heavy scar tissue as I couldn't dilate after it was removed
Two c-sections
Transabdominal Cerclage (TAC) fitted at 13 weeks with DC3 via open abdominal surgery - it's permanent and still there.

Symptoms -

Failure to conceive (cycle 8 now, charting etc etc - am also almost 37) when pre DC3 I conceived within 1 or 2 months for the other five conceptions I had. I know it's early days but this is sooo different to my previous conception experiences that I am sure something is wrong.
Periods seem lighter than they were pre-DC - two days of red flow then tails off rapidly to red brown spotting for another 3-4 days.
Lots of brown spotting pre period, up to 2-3 days worth.
Lots and lots of cramps post ovulation, often quite painful at times. Ovulation pain as well, which I never used to get. Both of these are a lot worse than they used to be.

The reason I think it may not be is because I'm still getting my period.. but I've also read that it is possible to still get your period, albeit unusual.

Given we are very, very blessed to have three DC already I don't think the NHS is going to be very sympathetic even if we always had our heart set on four. I've been getting eyerolls from the GPs I've seen so far - I don't blame them really as at times I do feel greedy but I also feel very desperately that somebody is missing from our family and it's eating me up. My want for our final baby is no less than the want I had for our second.

I have private health insurance through Cigna thanks to DH's work. Like most, they won't cover infertility-related matters. How likely is it they would be convinced by the argument over painful cramps pre-period and my history of endo in order for me to perhaps see Dr. Lower to find out if Asherman's (or indeed anything else) is behind my issues?

All thoughts welcome! Thanks

Apologies to the rest of the MN community for committing the sin of resurrecting a really old thread but...

I just wanted to come on to say that 21 months after giving birth to my post Asherman's baby - I got my period! Obviously I thought it was never going to come back after everything that happened previously (though I am still breastfeeding, so that was obviously what was delaying it, rather than AS again), so I am really surprised and delighted.

I'm so sorry for not responding to the posts that I missed since my last one, I had taken a big break from MN. Best of luck to anyone still on their AS journey, and Redmeanie I am glad you didnt have AS!

Hello sorry for posting on a very old thread. I just wondered if any of the ladies who posted on here went on to have a successful pregnancy?

Congratulations @TheMummyAbroad

I had an ERPC for MMC at 11 weeks in March 2018 (1st pregnancy and havent TTC since). I always wondered if something was wrong though after this as my periods returned and were regular but noticeably got a LOT lighter, (used to be 5-6 days of heavy flow, now only 2-3 days of light flow). I also had no immediate bleeding after the procedure which I found odd and thought maybe they had been too aggressive at clearing the uterus.

I have had appointments with both Mr Trew and Mr Lower who said they don't think I should be worried about scar tissue. I did have a hycosy scan done which showed my lining at 4.4mm at CD6 which was on the thin side.

I guess I should trust the experts and just TTC (I'm 35 now). I'm just scared that I might be at risk for MMC and dont want to make my situation worse if end up needing further D&C etc =/

Anyone still out there with any experience in this situation? I tried joining the Yahoo group but it doesn't seem to be there any more. Thank you x
