hi all, fairly new to this and dont no a lot of the abbreviations. just looking for advice and possibly some reassurance!

was on pill for 8 and half yrs from age 17. cilest until last year when switched to microgynon 30. took last tablet at beginning of may and had period as normal 3 days later.

since then nothing. not a drop. have taken 2 tests and not pg. i no it can take a while to adjust but how long do i wait before i panic/visit my gp?

was never regular b4 pill but was skinny and didnt eat proper- not an issue any more - am healthy weight. should i be worried?

The pill actually leaves your system very quickly after taking the last tablet.

If you were not regular before taking the pill there is more of a chance that the irregularity would resume after stopping the pill. BTW there is no evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate; what it can do though is mask symptoms of any underlying hormonal imbalance and this is probably what has happened here. This can cause periods to become irregular. A common cause of such irregularity is a condition called polycystic ovaries.

I would now pay a visit to your GP now and explain that you have not had any sort of bleed since May. Blood tests can be done to see what your hormone levels are like; you need them to compare your LH (luteinising hormone) level against that of your FSH (follicle stimulation hormone) level on a day 2 test. A day 2 test can be done according to calendar days if there is no cycle. If LH and FSH are out of sync this can cause such problems to arise; it can be treated but you may need specialist help from a gynae at a hospital's subfertility unit in order to conceive.

You need a diagnosis first and foremost and you will need to be persistant in order to get answers. Do not be fobbed off!.

Thank you Attila, it all sounds so complicated and confusing Confused

I will make an appointment first thing Monday morning! I guess i have kind put it off incase they try to fob me off with "your body will take time to adjust" and also incase its something really bad Sad

Do you think they will give me a blood test straight away or might i have to push for it? i hate being pushy...
