Silly ttc question - swimming?

Feel foolish writing this but my googling hasn't given me the answer - do any of you avoid swimming around ovulation? In case it - er - affects the other swimmers? Or doesn't the water reach such parts?
So wishing I'd namechanged before I started this!
On holiday and it would be a shame to waste the pool, but only a few more months of ttc left to me. Any advice? Thank you in advance!

I wouldn't have even thought about something like that :) Personally I wouldn't have thought the water would make a difference, isn't it just the temperature which initially keep them er, swimming or not? But if the deed has already been done I'm pretty sure swimming won't make a difference. Good luck :)

Thanks you LittleMiss! Picturing them ending up in pool instead of where they need to be, having gone to such lengths to put them there on the right day. After a while you start to think that anything you do will cause a problem. [hsad]

Hello

Your cervix opens a teeny tiny bit around the time of ovulation and then closes when the egg has erm "hatched" so any swimmers who were in the right place at the right time get locked in nice and safe, and bacteria, swimming pool water and anything else stays safely locked out.

Enjoy the pool!

Aah, thank you mummyabroad. I didn't swim again till after ov. days in case I hit the 'window'.

I can provide some evidence here... just got a BFP and the only time DH's swimmers got anywhere near me was 20 mins before I went in the pool on hols.
I can remember at the time thinking I was giving myself one hell of a douche and thought there was no chance of conceiving.
Hurrah!

Iggi,

If you are looking for a good read on Fertility stuff, the absolutely best book is Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler. Its really good. xxx

I like your thinking Smile. Now I am going to order a book all about winning the lottery in case your theory works Grin

Took delivery today of the aforementioned book. The postman collapsed under the weight. 'tis giant!

Oh yes! I had that reaction too! Most of it is a "troubleshooting" section at the back though, very handy reference type thing. I still refer to it a lot. Happy reading xxx
