The line should be getting darker, shouldn't it?

I'm 16dpo. Got a faint positive on a First Response on Monday and also on one of those internet cheapies (10miu), although that one was so faint you had to squint to see it.

I did another test this morning and the internet one was really faint again, probably fainter than Monday's. With the First Response although there was definitely a line it was still really faint.

They should be getting darker shouldn't they? I'm sure they did with ds. I'm assumung that this means my hormone levels will drop and I'll get my period. Any idea how long this could take?

The odd thing is, I've been feeling really sick and definitely pregnant. Presumably that means I am pregnant at the moment but it's just not progressing. Had anyone had the same?

I had something similar with a chemical pregnancy earlier this year. The test line got gradually fainter and disappeared over about a week and them my period started just a bit later than normal.

However, four days is not very long and I wouldn't say it's a certainty that this is what will happen, particularly if you have pregnancy symptoms. With this pregnancy (19 weeks) it took a week or so for lines to become distinctly darker (I became a bit obsessive Blush), so it's definitely not over until it's over!

I would maybe give it a few days and if AF hasn't arrived test with a CB digital, which should give you a bit of an indication of where your hormone levels are up to.

Thanks Pushmepullyou. Actually I think the CB digital suggestion is a good one. I think I just need to wait it out for a few days first.

Congratulations on this pregnancy!

It means nothing atm. It's all about the limitations of the test, concentration of urine, time of day etc and nothing to do with the viability of the pregnancy. Of course if you were experiencing a chemical pregnancy you would expect the lines to grow fainter and/or disappear but faint lines don't always mean it is a chemical pregnancy iyswim. It's not that straightforward.

You don't know exactly when the egg was fertilised, how long it has taken for it to travel down the fallopian tube etc. And although early pregnancy is pretty uniform, the ranges of normal for hcg are quite varied.

It's frustrating but atm the only thing you know for sure is you're producing hcg. You are pregnant.

Fingers crossed for you. I was a serial POASer.

Ask for bloods to be taken with GP...these need to be done a few days apart as hormone levels should double every 48/72 hours.

I had a similar situation this cycle, and sadly my levels went down...but hopefully this wont be the case for you...keeping everything crossed for you X

Thanks everyone. I think I'll wait it out for a bit and test again in a few days with a digital. If it's still unclear, I'll go to the doctor.
