Just wanted to say thank you. You won't remember but you've been around on a few Clomid/PCOS/ttc threads with me and were always the calm voice of reason and consistency. So thank you!

I'm pleased to say I'm pregnant (7 weeks)after second cycle of Clomid. Terrified of course, but at least I know now I can get pregnant and that is a huge relief.

Congratulations Bling! How long had you been trying? What tests were conducted? How long did it take? Did you have regular cycles? Sorry for the inquisition. We've been trying seriously for the past two years. Cycles regular as clockwork, ovulating bang on day 14. Lots of tests conducted all came back fine. Prognosis: unexplained infertility. No help whatsoever. I'm 40, he's 43. Considering ivf privately in new year if nothing happens before then. No dc for either of us yet. This leads me to question anybody and everybody how they struck lucky, just in the hope that something they say will point us in the right direction.

Hi Fedup. I don't mind. but I'm not sure my experience will help you that much. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19 so this was all fairly expected. Cycles beyond irregular - varied from 33 days (very seldom) to my all time record of 107 days and I feel like I've hit practically every variation between the two.

I had various tests to start with to assess whether anything was happening (I wasn't shocked when the day 21 test showed nothing going on at all!), lots of ultrasounds, blood tests to check everything from HIV to Clamydia etc. Then I was put on the Clomid. Because of the long standing nature of the problem, the doctor didn't want to test me for a lot of other things first on the assumption that if the PCOS was the problem, the Clomid would (hopefully) sort me out.

Which seems to have happened. So while I did go back and forth a lot and did get tested for lots of things, all round, it wasn't the kind of invasive infertility treatment other people experience. I'm really sorry to hear you're having such a difficult time and I wish I had something constructive to offer you.

Thank you very much for such a detailed explanation of your personal history, it is much appreciated. I am very very happy that the clomid worked for you. Hope the remainder of your pregnancy is uneventful. Good luck. Xxx
