Can you help me understand Day 22 test results?

Hi

I had day 22 blood tests done on Monday. This is my first month on Clomid @50mg. The result came in a 19.

Monday was actaully day 23 for me (clearly couldn't do the test on Saturday or Sunday)

According to FF I ovulated on CD 12, so that test was done at 11DPO.

Help! The consultants secretary wasn't very helpful. This seems really low to me. But I'm madly hopeing the extra day (22/23) made a difference and that ovulating on CD12 is affecting the results too.

After 7 months ttc I'm beginning to lose sense and perspective!

Many thanks
Brassica

Oh, and I'm usually a 26 day cycle. Which means the tests were done 4 days before my period is due.

(Feeling a little sick as I think it's bad news and trying to get a fecking grip! Grin but Sad)

This isn't my area of expertise, but doesn't over 30 mean you ovulated? When are you seeing your consultant?

January! I was given 4 months of clomid and told to "go and pro-create" Wink So I'm making myself difficult by calling the secretary for results and questioning whether I need to have the clomid increased from 50mg to 100mg.

They usually like to see a result of 30 or over if progesterone was measured on day 22. The day 21 test is a standard test done to measure progesterone levels.

Who prescribed the clomid to you initially?. The results should be gone over properly with yourself by this person.

Clomid is usually given to women who present with ovulation problems. If this is the case with yourself then FF will be doubly unhelpful here and that FF this time around was wrong. Would suggest you now refrain from using FF anyway as you are beyond that initial stage now.

Its poor practice also for your clinician to give you 4 months of clomid presumably without any monitoring in that time. You have no way of knowing whether its doing what its supposed to be done (clomid's primary job is to make the ovaries work harder). Clomid is actually quite powerful stuff and is not always suitable for all women to take.

I would be asking for an earlier appt; January is too far away under these circumstances. I am also wondering whether this is a private clinic or NHS.

HI Brassica,
I had the 21 day test done twice.
One last month and came back with a result of 2Shock . My Dr decided that becuase I'm only 29 and already have a child that I've got no problems and that this result is surely a one off so to prove that she sent me to have it done again! ( went yesterday)
I'm off to see a different Dr tomorrow Grin

I saw the consultant for an HSG after he prescribed the clomid. And after I'd done more reading on clomid. I was worried that I wasn't being offered more monitoring. So I innocently asked "how will you know that clomid is working or that it's the correct dose". I was told that he'd re-evaluate things after the CD22 tests.

When I rang his secretary today I was told (by her!) that the result was 19 and she was going to hang up!! I told her I thought it was low and that I'd like a call back - still waiting!

This is NHS treatment. I told the consultant last time that if he thought private treatment was appropriate then he just had to say the word! He said it wouldn't make much difference at this stage Hmm
