Hi ladies, fallopian tube question

In a nutshell - last sept found out I was pregnant, had a misscariage at 6 weeks, during scans they found a cyst on my ovary. Jan had my right ovary removed but left my fallopian tube which the doc seemed quite happy about.
My question is, what does a fallopian tube do when there is not an ovary attached to it.
I've tried searching this on the net and I don't think I've found the answer.
Just need some help
Thanks

Hi, I have recently found out my right tube is blocked. I don't think ovaries are actually attached to fallopian tubes? all the diagrams/photos I've seen show it kind of wavingt around in the general vicinity of the ovary, ready to 'catch' the egg.

I have heard, though, that a left fallopian tube can catch an egg from the left right ovary - so all is not lost just because we don't have functioning right tubes!

Hi, thankyou for replying
I think I worded my situation wrong. I have both fallopian tubes functioning fine (as far as I know) but only my left ovary.

I'm sure I read recently that there have been instances of a fallopian tube "catching" an egg released from the opposite side. It's probably a quite rare occurence, but you never know. And medically speaking, I don't think a doctor would automatically remove the tube at the same time as removing the ovary - there's no justification.

Hi slowshow
I know the doc wouldn't go in removing parts for no reason. My op was a bit in the dark because the cyst was so big and round the back they couln't get a proper look (even after 3 scans) until the op. I think they were worried my tube may be damaged because of the size of the cyst.
Also I have heard the 'catching' of an egg, maybe that is what it is. But when you look on the net sometimes you get an information overload and are still none the wiser.
