Title says it all, really! 6 months sound ok? Thanks in advance.

6 months sounds plenty to me, more than enough. I thought the recommendation was 3+ months for folic acid. With DS I think I only took them for about 3 days before he was conceieved and he was fine (although my diet is reasonably good). Don't get fixated on the vitamins, general healthy eating will do a lot to get your body where it needs to be.

6 months more than enough from what I've read in books/on here. I just started takign mine last week and Im coming off the pill in October.

Make sure you take pregnancy or pre-natl ones and not ordinary multivitamins (like I bought first!) as these contain vitamin A derived from animals which can be harmful for the baby's development.

Thanks for the advice! Pregnacare says 3-6 months but wasn't sure if that was them trying to sell an extra 6 months worth's of tablets... think will go with 6 months to be absolutely sure - and to get into real baby-trying excitement mode! I do eat pretty well anyway (although may need to cut down a little on the wine... [hmmm]

I would just take folic acid for 3 months beforehand then vitamins when you get a positive result as they are very expensive. The baby will take all the vitamins it will need anyway and unless you live solely on cake then you will be fine. Pregnacare would say 6 months as they are the most expensive of them all!
