Hello, I'm a big time lurker and this is my very first post. Please be gentle Grin.

We have been TTC for 18 months, both 37, my first, his second (previous marriage).

I've used CBFM for 6 months, have regular 27 day cycle, although ovulate fairly late CD16-19. Day 21 test was 43?? GP says I ovulate and as DH has previously proved himself we should just have more sex!!! We do have lots honestly Blush

We have appt with fertility consultant on 17th September.

I drink 2 bottles of wine each week, DH smokes 10 a day. We have both started taking vits.

What are we doing wrong???????

If you were trying for a Very Long Time and then got your BFP is there anything you did differently???

Please provide me with some hope - I'm desperate.

A good thing here is that you have your appt with the cons next month. It is important that both of you attend this initial appt. The first such appt can bring with it considerable nerves, apart from providing moral support to each other both of you can ask questions. He will undoubtedly ask you about your medical histories and current lifestyle.

Smoking can have a very bad effect on both sperm count and quality of semen. Is he trying to quit?. Infact I would encourage him to give up and use the services of NHS quit helpline. It does not necessarily follow that even though he has a child he is still fully fertile. His smoking is certainly not helping with regards to ttc.

Would not rely on monitor alone; this things can be inaccurate in terms of when you ovulate so would avoid using it. Even normally fertile women do not ovulate every single month.

Hi, thanks for your advice. DH has cut down smoking considerably and is aiming to quit by Christmas.

I asked my GP about a sperm test for DH but she shrugged me off and basically told me to just get on with it!

I'm obviously worried because of my age and have been referred to a clinic out of my area as my PCT does not offer any fertility services. I'm concerned as I've read that they might not offer any NHS treatment as DH already has a child. Is this correct? If so, how is that fair???

I know worrying wont help but I cant help it, its been so long, there must be a problem.
