Hi all I haven't been on MN for years, I was on alot when my kids were small before I went back to work, I appologise now for the ramble I'm about to write. Anyway I have joined today in the hope that you lovely ladies can give me some advice. I have an 11yr old and a 7yr old and wasn't planning on any more as I have Hypermobility Syndrome. I have a cycle usually around 32days. I have always ovulated very late mostly between day 20 to day 28 and I have had 4 early misscarriages over the years and my last one was 3yrs ago, doctor thinks its due to my late ovulation but I did have two healthy pregnancies.

Anyway DH and I went away for a few days on our own on 2nd Aug, we did the deed twice on the 5th &6th Aug unprotected as I felt I was due my period within two days, sore nipples etc. My last period was 9th July. I now think I was ovulationg round about that time and theres a likey chance I am early pregnant, I'm just worried I might miscarry again, I tested last night but negative I'm thinking I'd be beter waiting till firday to test again, my boobs are tender at the outersides just with my previous pregnancies. Any advice from late ovulators is most welcome.

Hello Yecart. I tend to ovulate fairly late (day 17-20 of a 28/29 day cycle). I have also had a couple of miscarriages, but have one DS. I am no expert but have read into this, and I think what really matters is the length and quality of your luteal phase, not how late in your cycle (as in how many days since your period) you ovulate. "Late" ovulation with a reasonable length luteal phase (officially I think 10+ days is ok, some doctors prefer 12+) should be fine. However there are lots of people who've had successful pregnancies with slightly shorter luteal phases, so even if yours is less than 10 days it's not doomed - I suspect it depends on your hormone levels that particular month, and whether you have enough progesterone to support early pregnancy. Good luck!
