Where can you get tested for pregnancy?

I know, questions, questions, always the questions!

But I have no one else to ask...

I have a bone density scan next week, however my fertile bit it is between (I think) so I was hoping to do the horizontal fandango then. I can't have the scan if there is a chance I am pregnant - do I have to buy my own pregnancy testing kits - they seem a bit pricey - or can your GP surgery do it?

Likewise I have to have jabs for my job (flu etc) and I can't have those if I am pregnant - if I have to buy a test for every time it is going to cost a lot!

Can I get free or cheap tests anywhere?

Silly question, but I can't risk it in case I am pregnant....

if you have a home and bargain store they sell tests for 99p each, always been reliable for me. hth

Your GP and local family planning clinic test for free. Not to sure about chemists, but you could ask. Lots of people buy cheapie tests off the internet, and places like the pound shop and supermarket own-brand.

Phew, sounds like you're expected to do a lot of peeing on sticks!

If you conceive between now and next week it is unlikely to show on a test before your scan. I would tell them when you go that you are trying to get pregnant and see what they say. Likewise when you go for flu jabs etc (assuming you get them done at surgery and not work). Just be open with the healthcare professionals - I am sure they have been there before.
